Elbert Saylor

Elbert Saylor, age 88, of Parsons Road in Waynesburg, passed away Sunday, September 4, 2016 at his residence.  Born Wednesday, February 15, 1928 in Harlan, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Elihu & Retha Hopkins Saylor.  His loving wife, whom he married January 27, 1966, is Rose Davidson Saylor of Waynesburg.  Elbert was a US Army Veteran, who served during the Korean Conflict.  During his military service, he earned the Korean Service Medal and the Distinguished Service Medal.  Elbert worked as a Tool & Dye Machinist at Rexnord for 17 years.  He was a faithful member of Waynesburg Pentecostal Church, where he played the guitar.  Elbert enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing, was a jokester, was a softball umpire and also enjoyed playing softball, was an avid UK fan, and enjoyed hulling and selling black walnuts.  He will be remembered for being a devoted Christian family man, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. 

In addition to his wife, Elbert leaves behind six children, Ada Jean Saylor of Alabama, Linda Saylor Ruckel (Greg) of Florida, Timothy Ray Saylor (Donna), James Christopher Saylor, Jeffery Saylor (Erica), and Angela Saylor all of Waynesburg; nine grandchildren, Matthew Ruckel (Hannah) of Stanford, Aretha Kayla Ruckel Decker (Lindsey) of Eubank, Elijah Colon of Somerset, Kendra Saylor of Alabama, Edward Adams, Jeffery Saylor, Isaiah Saylor, Josiah Saylor, and Bristol Truett all of Waynesburg; three great-grandchildren, Micaiah Ruckel and Cainan Ruckel both of Stanford, and Nick Saylor of Alabama; one brother, Robert Saylor (Connie) of Tennessee; and one sister, Flossie Manuel of Danville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one great-granddaughter, Angel Saylor; and eight siblings, Ruby, Worley, Hurbel, Cliford, Pauline, Edward, Mae Francis, and Ronald. 

A Funeral Service will be held 11:00AM Thursday, September 8, 2016 at Waynesburg Pentecostal Church, 12127 Hwy 27 South, Waynesburg, KY  40489.  Bro. Daniel Willhoite & Bro. Ron Robinson will officiate the service.  Burial will follow in Saylor-Davidson Cemetery in Waynesburg with Full Military Honors performed by the Caswell-Saufley Post #18 of the American Legion. 

Visitations will be held 6-9PM Wednesday, September 7, 2016 and 9AM-11AM Thursday at the church.
