Dallas Athel Jacobs, age 94, of Waynesburg, passed away Tuesday, June 6, 2017 peacefully at his residence. Born Thursday, February 1, 1923 in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Ernie and Ocie Faw Jacobs. He was the widower of the late Lillian Sanders Jacobs, who preceded him in death April 13, 2012 after 65 years of marriage. Over the years Dallas was a 20 year member of the Waynesburg Rescue Squad, taught Sunday school at Parlor Grove and Pleasant View Baptist Church for over 50 years, a Deacon at Parlor Grove for 30 years and at Pleasant View for 38 years, and a part of Disaster Relief for 14 years. As a World War II Veteran, he flew 33 missions in Europe as a Gunner on a B17 bomber. In his spare time, he enjoyed being outdoors, hunting and fishing. Dallas will be remembered for being a humble man that loved his family, and had a deep faith and love for his Lord and Savior.
Dallas leaves behind three sons, Charles “Chuck” Jacobs (Judy), Roger Jacobs (Janet), and Kenneth “Kenny” Jacobs (Edwina) all of Waynesburg; two brothers, Eullas Jacobs (Betty) of Nancy, Clealus “C.E.” Jacobs (Frances) of Somerset; one sister, Lynetta Hensley of Indiana; eight grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Glenda Kay Greer; one sister, Leuna Reynolds; and one grandson, Daren Greer.
A Funeral Service will be held 11:00AM Friday, June 9, 2017 at Pleasant View Baptist Church with Bro. Kyle Page and Bro. Aaron Hogue officiating the service. Burial will follow in Olive Cemetery with Full Military Rites performed by the Caswell Saufley Post #18 of the American Legion. Josh Jacobs, Daniel Jacobs, Zack Jacobs, Sam Jacobs, Jason Liddle and Jeremy Blanton will serve as Active Pallbearers. Granddaughters will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
The Visitation will be held 5-8PM Thursday, June 8, 2017 at the church.
