William Edward “Billy” Byrd, age 77, of Crab Orchard, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at The Baptist Health-Lexington. Born Wednesday, March 10, 1943 in Crab Orchard, he was the son of the late Mary A. (Singleton) McKnight and the late Timothy Joe Byrd. Billy was a member of Crab Orchard Church of God. He was a retired truck driver, having formerly worked for Tarter Gate Company Casey County, Kentucky. Billy enjoyed dancing and visiting dance halls when he was able.
Billy leaves behind his five children, Ricky Byrd (Teresa) of Frankfort, Kentucky, Mary Brock (Companion-Darrell Treadway) of Crab Orchard, Jeffery Hall of Crab Orchard, Kathy Graham of Waynesburg, Kentucky, and Vedenia Samples of Crab Orchard; 24 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 4 brothers, Jack Byrd of Perryville, Kentucky, Tom Byrd and Calvin Byrd both of Junction City, Kentucky, and Jerry Byrd of Indiana; and several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members and friends who mourn his passing.
In addition to his mother and father, Billy was preceded in death by 2 grandsons, Tiler Hall and Dillon Brumett; 2 sisters, Louise Reed and Eva Byrd; and 1 brother, Bobby Byrd.
A Funeral Service will be held 2:00PM Monday, August 10, 2020 at Fox & Friend Funeral Home with Sister Priscilla Johnson officiating the service. Burial will follow in Crab Orchard Cemetery. Christopher Brock, Deven Brock, Trentin Hall, Darrell Treadway, Roy Ricketts, and Rickey Ramey will serve as Active Pallbearers. Ricky Byrd Jr., Billy Byrd, Jason Green, Anthony Drury and William Drury will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
The Visitation will be held 4-7PM Sunday, August 9, 2020 at the funeral home.
