Jack H. Johnson, age 88, of Georgetown, Indiana, formerly of Somerset, Kentucky, passed away peacefully Monday, February 26, 2024, at Baptist Health Floyd in New Albany, Indiana. Born Friday, June 21, 1935, in Woodruff, West Virginia, he was the son of the late WWI Veteran Herbert Perry Johnson and the late Alice Grim Johnson. Jack was a U.S. Navy Veteran, who served actively December 9, 1953-October 8, 1957. Jack was the widower of the late Barbara Marie Clark Johnson. Jack retired from Norfolk Southern, where he was a dispatcher. Jack was of the Christian faith and was a skilled wood carver and boat builder.
Jack leaves behind three sons, Dr. Perry Andrew Johnson (Kathleen) of Georgetown, Indiana, Phillip Johnson (Kristen) of Boyle County, Kentucky, and David Johnson (Judy) of Madison, Wisconsin; five grandchildren, Caitlin Gaikowski (Jordan), Hannah Johnson, Matthew Severin Johnson, Cameron Johnson, and Alexander Johnson; four great-grandchildren; and several other extended family members and friends who mourn his passing.
In addition to his wife and parents, Jack was preceded in death by three brothers, WWII Veteran Herman Johnson, WWII Veteran Clark Johnson, and Veteran Frank Johnson, who was killed in action; and one sister, Hope Yoho.
A Public Visitation will be held 12PM-1PM Thursday, March 7, 2024, at Fox & Friend Funeral Home, 312 West Main Street, Stanford, KY 40484.
A Public Graveside Service will be held 1:30PM Thursday, at the Chapel of Danville Memorial Gardens. Pastor Diane Trinket will officiate the service. The Graveside Service will be livestreamed on Jack’s memorial page of the funeral home’s website.
Full Military Honors will be performed at the Graveside Service. Burial will follow the service.
