Fern Delores Sims Obituary

Fern Delores Sims, age 87, of Kings Mountain, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville, Kentucky. Born Saturday, March 10, 1934, in the Mount Olive Community of Casey County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Finley & Linda Elliott. Fern was the widow of the late Russell Sims. Fern was a homemaker, and enjoyed quilting, gardening, growing flowers, embroidering, and listening to Johnny Cash music.

Fern leaves behind two sons, Ronnie Sims (Lisa) and Jody Sims (Jessica) both of Waynesburg, Kentucky; six daughters, Brenda Eldridge (Tyrone) of Waynesburg, Linda Peavey (Larry) of Liberty, Kentucky, Dianne Jones (Mike) of Waynesburg, Elaine Sims (Jimmy) of Liberty, Laverne Duff (Paul) of Stanford, Kentucky, and Jennifer Colyer (Jerry) of Lancaster Kentucky; 17 grandchildren; numerous great and great-great grandchildren; four brothers, David Elliott of Danville, Junior & Tim Elliott both of Yosemite, Kentucky, and Larry Elliott of Versailles, Kentucky; and several other extended family members and friends who mourn her passing.

In addition to her husband and parents, Fern was preceded in death by three sons, Kenneth Sims, Donnie Sims, and Kenny Sims (infant); and two sisters, Faye Miller and Violet Smith.

A Private Funeral Service will be held Friday, December 3, 2021, at Barnett, Demrow & Friend Funeral Home. Bro. Jimmie Sims will officiate the service.

The Funeral Service will be livestreamed on Barnett, Demrow & Friend Funeral Home’s Facebook page beginning at 1:00PM Friday.

Private Burial will take place in Double Springs Cemetery. Jody Sims, Ronnie Sims, Jerry Colyer, Mike Jones, Jake Duff, and Jeremiah Duff will serve as Active Pallbearers. Nick Carrier, Joey Sims, and Nathan Durham will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
