Donald Lee Haggard, age 86, of Waynesburg, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, December 19, 2021, at Ephraim McDowell Fort Logan Hospital in Stanford, Kentucky. Born Saturday, April 6, 1935, in Kings Mountain, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Cicero J. & Bessie Mae Pittman Haggard. Donald was the widower of the late Marlene Addington Haggard, whom he married Friday, December 24, 1954, and preceded him in death Sunday, February 10, 2008. Donald retired, after 41 years of work, from Southern Railroad, and was a member of Grace Fellowship Church in Stanford, Kentucky. In his spare time, he loved to play Bingo.
Donald leaves behind one son, Steve Haggard (Diane) of Waynesburg; three daughters, Pam Halcomb (Mike) of Brandenburg, Kentucky, Donna Spoonamore (Sonny) of Stanford, and Tresa “Cricket” Carrier (Scott) of Waynesburg; 12 grandchildren, Amy Hopper (Braydon), Stephanie Haggard, Kim McRay, Nikki Hunt (James), Street Spoonamore (Erica), Dustin Carrier (Holly), MaKayla Walls (Levi), Ashley Blankenship (Brian), Makenzie Staton, Austin Carrier (Ciera), Chad Terrell (Emily), and Tinsley McCoy (Casey); 28 great-grandchildren, Gabby Delcastio, Luke Isaacs, Jayden Taylor, Braden Taylor, Jansen Dunham, Dalton Hunt, Kaitlyn Hunt, Kirsten Lawless, Olivia Lawless, Eli Blankenship, Garrett Carrier, Star Ellison, Sebastian Carrier, Mila Carrier, Kennedy Carrier, Sophia Staton, Mason Staton, Emerson Staton, Noah McRay, Nathan McRay, Lily Terrell, Isla Terrell, Harrison Terrell, Rosie Terrell, Hadley Spoonamore, Hudson Spoonamore, Aikyn McCoy, and Riley McCoy; one great-great grandson, Braxton Price; one brother, Jackie Haggard (Joyce) of Waynesburg; two sisters, Bobbie Hart (Ken) of Eubank, Kentucky, and Joan Greer of Waynesburg; and several other extended family members and friends who mourn his passing.
In addition to his wife and parents, Donald was preceded in death by one brother, Estil E. “Tack” Haggard; and two sisters, Evelyn Slone and Marcella Haggard.
A Private Visitation & Private Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at Barnett, Demrow & Friend Funeral Home. Bro. Vola Brown will officiate the service.
Private Burial will follow in Highland United Methodist Church Cemetery. Dustin Carrier, Austin Carrier, Chad Terrell, Levi Walls, James Hunt, Luke Issacs and Street Spoonamore will serve as Active Pallbearers. Casey McCoy, Braydon Hopper, Sonny Spoonamore, and Scott Carrier will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
