Edith Alexander Cannon, age 86, of Powers Court in Stanford, Kentucky, passed away Friday, December 13, 2019 at her residence. Born Friday, April 28, 1933 in Pulaski County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late John Wesley Alexander & the late Zena Phelps Alexander King. Edith worked, for almost 20 years, at Stanford House (Golden Living Center) and Somerset Center (Britthaven). Edith also was a cook at Memorial High School for several years. Edith was a member of Pleasant Point Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening, canning and loved flowers.
Edith leaves behind four children, David Bruce Nelson (Barb) of Williamsburg, Ohio, Frances Linville-Goens (Leroy) of Lancaster, Kentucky, Dennis Lee Counts of Stanford, and Sheila Godby-Padgett (Darrin) of Waynesburg, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Michele Goens, Robert Barrett, Laura Gilliam (Lincoln), Kaylie Padgett, and Ethan Padgett; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; one brother, Carl Alexander (Mary) of Batavia, Ohio; and two sisters, Bertha Hargis of Somerset, Kentucky, and Doshia Phelps (Jay) of St. Paul, Indiana; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other extended family members and friends who mourn her passing.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Dennis Bradley Counts; and two sisters, Mary Ellen Alexander and Lois Alexander Taylor.
A Funeral Service will be held 1:00PM Monday, December 16, 2019 at Fox & Friend Funeral Home with Bro. Bill Rhodus and Bro. Steven Bates officiating the service. Burial will follow in Barnesburg Cemetery in Pulaski County, Kentucky. Ethan Padgett, Darrin Padgett, Austin Denny, Matthew Gilliam, Barry Wilson, Lincoln Gilliam, Lynn Young, and Nick Alexander will serve as Active Pallbearers.
The Visitation will be held 10AM-1PM Monday at the funeral home.
