John David Friend has lived continuously in Lincoln County since he married Mary Benton Friend on November 8, 2008.  As a young child, he grew up in the Pond Community of Kings Mountain, where his father was minister of Pond Baptist Church.  John David’s funeral service career began in 2004, where he worked at Ramsey-Young Funeral Home in Lancaster.  In December 2009, he obtained his Funeral Director’s license.  He also has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business & Marketing Education, and a Master of Arts Degree in Education Administration. John David’s family, in addition to his wife, includes his three beautiful daughters, Jesse Elizabeth, Ella Reese, and Logan Suzann; parents, Johnny Dale & Joyce Rogers Friend of Lancaster; and sister, Perri Ann Friend of Lancaster.  John David is a member of Grace Fellowship Church in Stanford, and is a member of the Worship Praise Team.  He currently serves as Past Chairperson of the Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, is a member of the Stanford Lions Club, where he currently serves as Treasurer, is a member of the Lincoln County Historical Society, where he serves as Co-Treasurer, a member of the Logan's Fort Foundation Board, is a member of the Ephraim McDowell Fort Logan Hospital Auxiliary, and is a Gideon for the Stanford Camp of Gideon's International.  In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, running, landscaping, and watching UK Basketball games.

Mary Benton Friend

Mary Benton Friend moved back to Stanford in 2002 with her parents, the late Bobbie Sue Demrow & Jesse Clark Benton.  As a child, she traveled and lived in many places, around the world, depending on where her father was stationed in the military.  In 2006, she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Healthcare Administration from Western Kentucky University.  On November 8, 2008, she married John David Friend.  They have three beautiful daughters, Jesse Elizabeth, Ella Reese, and Logan Suzann.  Her other family members include one brother, Richard Benton (Stephanie) of Colorado; paternal grandparents, Rebexie Caudill Benton of Waynesburg and the late Earl Benton.  Mary is a member of Grace Fellowship Church in Stanford.  On Mondays and Wednesdays, each week, she teaches the 3 and 4-year old class at Little Hands Preschool in Stanford.  She also is a member of the Stanford Lions Club, member of the Ephraim McDowell Fort Logan Hospital Auxiliary, Treasurer for the Stanford Elementary PTO, is a member of the Lincoln County Historical Society, where she serves as Co-Treasurer, is a committee member for Lincoln County Distinguished Young Woman, and is Secretary for the Stanford ARC Board.

Kerry Jones

Bro. Kerry Jones first came to Lincoln County in 1982 and worked in full-time ministry until 2011, when he began his career with the funeral homes.  He is an ordained minister and provides ministry services of preaching, singing, working visitations, prearranging, and coordinating the after-care ministry program for the funeral homes.  He and his wife, Kathy Adams, who married in 1984, reside in Stanford. They have two daughters, Jamie Hatter (Jesse) and Lindsay Harris (Lucas) both of Stanford; and five grandchildren, Alex, Claire, and Ellen Sue Hatter, and Kate and Lillian Grace Harris.  In his spare time, he enjoys singing, playing the guitar, landscaping, gardening, hiking, and playing golf.  He is also a member of a local band, "Shades of Gray".  Kerry attends New Beginnings United Methodist Church in Stanford.

Janet Jacobs

Janet Jacobs grew up in the Highland Community of Lincoln County. She started working for Fox & Friend Funeral Home and Barnett, Demrow & Friend Funeral Home in June 2011. Janet retired, from the Lincoln County School System, after working 27 years in several different positions. She started as the secretary for Kings Mountain Memorial Elementary School and ended her years in the school system as the Food Service Director for the ten schools in Lincoln County.  She also keeps stats for the Lincoln County Lady Patriots Basketball Team.  Janet’s family includes her husband, Roger; two children, Daniel Jacobs (Tiffany) of Stanford and Katie Lou Blanton (Jeremy) of Waynesburg. Janet also has eight grandchildren, Lilly, Brody, Darcy Kate, and Marley Blanton and Cambria, Colt, Calisi Rose, and Colette Blair Jacobs. Janet, and her husband, Roger, own a small farm in Waynesburg.  In her spare time, she enjoys reading and watching sports of any kind. Janet is a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church in Waynesburg.

Jenny Demrow Maloy

Jenny is the daughter of Bill and Debbie Demrow. She was raised in Waynesburg with her brother; Curt Demrow. She lived, with her family, at Barnett & Demrow & Friend Funeral Home until she was 13 years old. She currently resides in Waynesburg with her husband James "Jimmy" Maloy, Jr., and their two children; Aidan and Brayli. She has worked in the office at Barnett & Demrow since she was a little girl. She also makes the funeral cakes for the funeral homes. Jenny is a graduate from Lincoln County High School.  She is a member of the Ephraim McDowell Fort Logan Hospital Auxiliary and committee member of the Lincoln County Distinguished Young Woman program.  Jenny attends Grace Fellowship Church in Stanford.

Madison Caudill Wilburn

Madison Caudill was born and raised in Lincoln County.  She is a 2014 Graduate of Lincoln County High School.  In March 2017, she graduated from Mid-America College of Funeral Services in Louisville with an Associate’s Degree in funeral service.  On Friday, April 7, 2017 she was hired full-time at the funeral homes.  On Tuesday, May 9, 2017, she was approved by the Kentucky Board of Embalmers & Funeral Directors to begin her one-year Embalming & Funeral Director Apprenticeship.  She, and her husband, Luke Wilburn (married June 10, 2017), resides in Moreland. Other family includes: parents, Scott & Donna Cress Caudill of Stanford; one brother, Skyler Caudill (Josie) of Georgetown, paternal grandparents, Kenneth & Brenda Caudill of Stanford; and maternal grandparents, Bob & Carolyn Cress of Eubank.  In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and dogs and enjoys running.  Madison attends Pleasant Run Baptist Church in the Forkland Community of Boyle County.

Dan Barnett was born and raised in Waynesburg, but has lived in Stanford the past 20+ years. Dan has been in the funeral business since 1975, where he was a former owner.  Dan currently serves as Funeral Director and Embalmer at Fox & Friend Funeral Home in Stanford and Barnett, Demrow & Friend Funeral Home in Waynesburg. His family includes his wife, Jane Noe Barnett, and two children; Gentry Barnett & the late Cassie Barnett. Dan is currently a Broker and Auctioneer for Lincoln Realty & Irvin Group Auction in Stanford. He attends Stanford Presbyterian Church.


Jay C. Atwood

Jay C. Atwood worked in the funeral business at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home starting in May 1987 until his retirement in November 2014. He became the full-time embalmer, December 1, 2014, at Fox & Friend and Barnett, Demrow & Friend Funeral Homes.  He is a 1969 Graduate of Casey County High School and a 1990 Graduate of the Mid-America College of Funeral Service. Jay is a licensed funeral director and embalmer. He served as Casey County Coroner from 1990-1998 and is a former Casey County School Board member. He is a longtime member of the Chestnut Grove Baptist Church in Casey County; and he enjoys golfing and fishing. Jay is married to Karen Derringer Atwood.

Selma Barnett has lived in Lincoln County all of her life, living many of those years in the Parlor Grove Community in Waynesburg. She has worked in the funeral business for 20+ years. Her family includes her first husband, the late Rev. Fred Conatser; her second husband, the late C.R (Clarence) Barnett; three children, Judy McGuffey (Randy) of Waynesburg, and Sherman Conatser of Danville, and  Regina Martin (Dennis) of Stanford. In addition to her two husbands, she is preceded in death by two sons, Freddie & Larry Conatser.  In her spare time, Selma enjoys quilting, participating in church activities, and cooking. She is a member of the Red Hat Society of Waynesburg. Selma is an active member of Double Springs Baptist Church, where she serves as Assistant Sunday School Teacher, church choir member, director of the monthly Senior Citizen program, and helps with the monthly food distribution program for needy families.

John Kolasa retired from the Lincoln County School System with 30+ years of teaching experience and served as High School Head Girls Basketball Coach for 17 years.  Currently, he teaches at Fort Logan High School in Stanford.  His family includes his loving wife, Bonnie Gehlhausen; and one son, Justin Kolasa.  John is an active member of Calvary Hill Baptist Church, serving as Assistant Music Director, Deacon, and Adult Sunday School Teacher at the church.  In his spare time, he enjoys reading.

Donna Atwood has resided in Lincoln County her entire life.  She joined the funeral service business in August 2012.  Her family includes one daughter, Lindsay VonGruenigen Hammond of Louisville; parents, Donald & Shirley Conatser Atwood of Moreland; and her two "grandpuppies" Trixi and Dexter.  In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her friends and family, volunteering with her church, cooking, and collecting primitive/country collections.  Donna is a member of Moreland First Baptist Church.


Bonnie Rose McWhorter

Bonnie Rose McWhorter has been a long-time resident of the New Salem Community in Lincoln County.  Bonnie joined the funeral home staff on June 24, 2013.  After 35 years of service, she retired as the McKinney Elementary School Secretary.  Her family includes her husband Ronald McWhorter; two sons Ronnie Kim McWhorter (Sharon) & Larry McWhorter (Karen) both of New Salem; and four grandchildren, Kevin McWhorter (Heather), Jonathan McWhorter (Kristen), Korey McWhorter (Tiffany), and Missy McWilliams (Ryan); and two great-grandchildren, Shelby Lynn McWilliams and Maverick Kreed McWhorter.  Bonnie is a member of Green River Pentecostal Church, where she serves on the Christmas Blessings Committee.  She is also a member of the Ephraim McDowell Fort Logan Hospital Auxiliary.

Joe Leach has lived all but five years of his life in the Waynesburg community.  He has worked for the funeral homes the past  10+ years.  In addition to working at the funeral home, Joe’s main job  is driving a log truck.  He also serves as a Gideon for Gideons International.  His family includes his wife, Lynda Caudill Leach; three daughters, Debbie, Donna, and Tammy; and six grandchildren, Brittany, Shelby, Hailey, Taylor, Gaylen, and Blake.  In  his spare time, he likes to ride horse and wagon.  Joe is an active member of Double Springs Baptist Church, where he serves as Deacon and Sunday School Director.


David W. Watts

David has very deep roots in Lincoln County. He was born and raised in Stanford, graduated from Lincoln County High School, and the University of Kentucky, with a degree in business administration. David worked for the Lincoln County Board of Education, for 20 plus years as a school bus driver, and retired in 2014. Along with his wife, Tonya Ely (married in 1990), he owns and operates a farm and owns and manages rental property in Stanford. David’s family includes his adult daughter, Jessica Cain (Aaron), who is a student at Eastern Kentucky University and works at Rite-Aid in Lancaster; his parents, Pauline Godbey Watts of Stanford and the late William David Watts; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. David is a Deacon at Calvary Hill Baptist Church, and is also the Co-Director of the Baptist Men organization. David is also a member of the Cattleman’s Association and the Kentucky Baptist Convention Disaster Relief Team. In his spare time, he enjoys farming, spending time with family and friends and doing construction projects.
