Wynona Sharon (Singleton) New, age 84, of Waynesburg, Kentucky, passed away peacefully Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at her home surrounded by her loved ones. Born Saturday, August 16, 1941, in Waynesburg, she was the daughter of the late Oris & Mayme (Killen) Singleton. Sharon worked for over 25 years at Ephraim McDowell Fort Logan Hospital. She was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church and volunteered with the Ephraim McDowell Fort Logan Hospital Auxiliary. Sharon was a talented seamstress and had an eye for creativity when it came to interior decorating.
Sharon leaves behind her husband, David Joe New, Sr., of Waynesburg; four children, David Joe New, Jr. (Vicki) of Lexington, Kentucky, Jeree Gilbert (R.W. “Buckwheat”) of Stanford, Kentucky, Tammy Richie of Stanford, and Channing Vinson (Jason) of Lexington; three grandchildren, Skyler Gilbert (Monica) of Stanford, Chansler Gilbert of Stanford, and Ashley Marcum (Frankie) of Manchester, Kentucky; three great-grandchildren, Lexie Gilbert, Jaxyn Gilbert, and Emma Bowling; two brothers, Dwight Singleton (Betty) of Danville, Kentucky, and Jimmy Singleton of Lexington; three sisters, Joyce Wall of Waynesburg, Shirley Free of Louisville, Kentucky, and Evonna McGuffey (Ranny) of Stanford; and several nieces, nephews, and numerous other extended family members and friends who mourn her passing.
In addition to her parents, Sharon was preceded in death by one infant daughter, Lisa Ruth New; two brothers, Bryn Singleton and Blaine Singleton; and three sisters, Anne Nita Rankin, Ardith Schwuchow, and Karen Dale Caudill.
A Public Visitation will be held 11AM-1PM Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Barnett, Demrow & Friend Funeral Home.
A Public Funeral Service will be held 1PM Saturday, at the funeral home. Bro. Vola Brown will officiate the service.
Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Somerset, Kentucky. Skyler Gilbert, Jason Vinson, Dexter Mullins, Julian Wall, Kenneth New, and Stevie New will serve as Active Pallbearers.
