Verta M. Eldridge Williams

Verta M. Eldridge Williams, age 80, of Stanford, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, October 7, 2023, in Lexington, Kentucky. Born Monday, July 5, 1943, in Harlan County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Jess Eldridge and Mollie Jones Eldridge. Verta was the wife to Shirley Eugene Williams of Stanford, whom she married Saturday, January 26, 1963. Verta previously worked as a waitress and at McDonald’s in Stanford & Nicholasville, Kentucky. She was a member of Valley Baptist Church. Verta enjoyed watching westerns, especially Gunsmoke, Audy Murphy, and James Arnez. She enjoyed her grand kitten, Callie, and working word search puzzles.

Along with her husband, Verta leaves behind one daughter, Connie Nevels (James) of Lincoln County, Kentucky; and one brother, Ellis Eldridge of Crab Orchard, Kentucky.

In addition to her parents, Verta was preceded in death by four brothers, Ottis, Carlos, Edward, and Willis Eldridge; and three sisters, Marie Walter, Nellie Walter, and Elizabeth Fletcher.

A Public Visitation will be held 4-6PM Thursday, October 12, 2023, at Valley Baptist Church, 4482 Copper Creek Road, Berea, KY. 40403.

The Funeral service will be held at 6:00PM Thursday, at the church, with Bro. Stephen VanHook officiating.

A Graveside Service & Burial will be held 10:00AM Friday, October 13, 2023, at Camp Nelson National Cemetery in Nicholasville, Kentucky.
