Verna Lee Merrell Goode Davis

Verna Lee Merrell Goode Davis, age 77, of Stanford, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, September 7, 2023, at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville, Kentucky.  Born Friday, December 28, 1945, in Garrard County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Louis & Mae Couch Merrell.  Verna was a homemaker and member of Calvary Hill Baptist Church.  Verna enjoyed reading, cooking, watching soap operas, journalizing, and going to yard sales. 

Verna leaves behind her husband, Harold Davis of Stanford; two sons, Donald Lee Goode of Crab Orchard, Kentucky, and Louis Goode of Danville, Kentucky; one daughter, Heather Goode of Nicholasville, Kentucky; nine grandchildren, Makenzie Goode, Dustin Goode (Marie), Kayla Goode, Corey Goode (Jane), Matthew Jones (Sekeita), Shaina Goode (Cole Ogden), Lakin Hardy, Destany Goode (Terrell J. Combs), and Keona Goode; numerous great-grandchildren; five brothers, Jackie Merrell (Vicky) of Stanford, Randy Merrell of Stanford, Arnold Merrell of Florida, Jeff Merrell of Stanford, and Tommy Merrell (Lisa) of Stanford; one sister, Faye Manning (Charles) of Waynesburg, Kentucky; and numerous other extended family members and friends who mourn her passing.

In addition to her parents, Verna was preceded in death by one son, Anthony Douglas Goode; and one grandson, Michael D. Goode. 

A Public Visitation will be held 11AM-1PM Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at Fox & Friend Funeral Home. 

A Public Funeral Service will be held 1:00PM Wednesday, at the funeral home.  Bishop Troy Bellew will officiate the service.  The Funeral Service will be livestreamed on Verna’s memorial page of the funeral home’s website.

Burial will follow in Ephesus Baptist Church Cemetery in Crab Orchard.  Chris Allen, Mike Fair, Rodney Asberry, James Scott, Scott Denson, Troy Scarborough, Greg Whitley, Tim Crowe and Jackie Merrell will serve as Active Pallbearers.
