Roy George Brackman, age 98, of Hawthorne, California, formerly of Waynesburg, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, February 20, 2020. Born Thursday, March 10, 1921, in Cincinnati, Ohio, he was the son of the late Leo & Ella Kastrup Brackman. Roy was the widower of the late Emma B. “Tootie” Brown Brackman, who preceded him in death Thursday, March 5, 1998. Roy was a United States WWII Army Veteran, who served his country 1942-1945. Roy worked as an assistant grocery store manager and was a bartender for many years. He was a member of St. Sylvester Catholic Church in the Ottenheim community of Lincoln County, Kentucky.
Roy leaves behind one son, Robert C. Brackman (Jan) of Hawthorne, California; two grandchildren, Robert A. Brackman and Angaleen Jacobson both of Hawthorne; and one great-granddaughter, Alina Vasari of Hawthorne.
In addition to his wife and parents, Roy was preceded in death by one son, Alan L. Brackman; and one brother, Paul Lee Brackman.
A Private Burial took place, Tuesday, March 24, 2020, in Camp Nelson National Cemetery in Nicholasville, Kentucky.
A Memorial Mass will be held 12:00PM Saturday, September 11, 2021, at St. Sylvester Catholic Church. Rev. John List will officiate the service. Full military honors will follow the Memorial Mass.
PLEASE NOTE: Per family request, anyone who attends the Memorial Mass should wear a mask or face covering.
