Rose Pearl (Gourley) Grubbs, of Greenwood, Indiana passed away on Friday, September 12, 2025. She was 89 years old. Rose was born in Halls Gap, (Lincoln County) Kentucky to the late George Thomas and Myrtle Lou (Slone) Gourley on July 18, 1936. She married the love of her life, Louis Edward Grubbs who preceded her in death on January 1, 1996. Together they raised two children; daughter, Judy Grubbs of Greenwood, Indiana and son, Edward “Alan” Grubbs and his wife Mary also of Greenwood, Indiana, all of whom are left to cherish her memory.
After moving from Kentucky, the family lived in Indianapolis for nine years before moving to Greenwood, Indiana in 1966.
Rose was a member of Greenwood Christian Church, of Greenwood, Indiana. During her early years she worked for Goodall in Danville, KY. She then worked as a beautician for forty-five years. Finally working for the J. C. Penney styling salon in Greenwood, Indiana until her retirement in 2001.
In addition to her parents, and husband she is preceded in death by four brothers: Carl, Audrey, Bob and David Gourley. She is survived by her children, Judy and Alan; grandchildren, Nathan and Megan Grubbs of Greenwood, Indiana; sisters, Wanda Lewis (Glen) of Highland Heights, OH., and Betty Lou Preston (Holman) of Lancaster, KY., and sister-in-law, Mrs. David Gourley (Mavis) of Bellville, MI.
Services for Rose Grubbs are Thursday, September 18, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Fox and Friend Funeral Home, 312 W. Main Street, Stanford, KY. 40484. Guests are invited to gather from 11:00 AM until the time of service. She will be laid to rest at Hustonville Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory-Greenwood, Indiana, and Fox and Friend Funeral Home-Stanford, Kentucky.
