Richard Edward Johnson

Richard Edward Johnson, age 79, of Somerset, Kentucky, passed away at 3:27PM Monday, June 16, 2025, at the Jean Waddle Care Center in Somerset, with his final words being, “I love you, but I got to go”.  Born Monday, April 15, 1946, in Moss, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Luther Boyd & Ganel (Crawford) Johnson.  Richard was the widower of the late Eva Pearl (Foley) Johnson, whom he married Friday, May 18, 1973, and preceded him in death Saturday, March 2, 2024.  Richard previously worked as an assistant manager at a truck stop.  Richard enjoyed rabbit hunting, raising chickens, and watching John Wayne movies, especially “Red River”. 

Richard leaves behind one daughter, Evette Johnson Godigkeit (Karl) of Somerset; one grandson, Conner Godigkeit of Somerset; two brothers, George Johnson of Lebanon, Tennessee, and Arthur Ray Johnson of Lafayette, Tennessee; and one sister, Nellie Jenkins of Indian Hills, Tennessee.

In addition to his wife and parents, Richard was preceded in death by one sister, Louise Jenkins.

A private service, with burial at Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery, will be held Wednesday, June 18, 2025.
