Randy "Pops" McGuffey

Randy “Pops” McGuffey, age 74, of Waynesburg, Kentucky, passed away Friday, June 2, 2023, at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville, Kentucky.  Born Sunday, August 22, 1948, in Stanford, Kentucky, he was the son of the late William “Bill” Dailey & Ruth Gourley McGuffey.  His loving wife, whom he married Saturday, November 6, 1971, is Judy Conatser McGuffey of Waynesburg.  Randy retired, after 25 plus years, as an Electrician from Davis H. Elliot.  Randy was a dedicated member, for 51 years, of Parlor Grove Baptist Church, where he served as Deacon and Sunday School Teacher.  Randy also served as a past Lincoln County School System Board Member, for 16 years.  Randy loved farming and was a hard worker.  In his spare time, Randy loved watching and attending the sporting events of UK, Lincoln County Patriots, Cincinnati Reds, and Cincinnati Bengals, watching Gunsmoke, and eating at Captain D’s.  Randy will be remembered, most of all, for being a devoted Christian man, and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. 

In addition to his wife, Randy leaves behind one son, Randy McGuffey (Staci) of Berea, Kentucky; two daughters, Lori Rice (Charlie) and Melissa Reed (David) both of Waynesburg; six grandchildren, Tanner McGuffey (Hailey), Hunter Rice, Shayley Reed, Kennedy McGuffey, Macey Rice, and Kinsley Reed; one great-grandson, Nash McGuffey; one brother, Roger McGuffey (Kelli) of Mooresville, North Carolina; mother-in-law, Selma Conatser Barnett of Waynesburg; and other extended family members and friends who mourn his passing. 

In addition to his parents, Randy was preceded in death by one brother, Terry McGuffey; and one sister, Rita Carrigan. 

Public Visitations will be held 6-8PM Monday, June 5, 2023, and 11AM-1PM Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at Parlor Grove Baptist Church. 

The Public Funeral Service will be held 1:00PM Tuesday, at the church.  Bro. Josh Pennington & Bro. Tony Hall will officiate the service.  The Funeral Service will be recorded and uploaded to Randy’s Memorial Page of the funeral home’s website shortly following the service. 

Burial will follow in Parlor Grove Cemetery.  Tanner McGuffey, Hunter Rice, Randy McGuffey, Charlie Rice, David Reed, and Jeremy Mullins will serve as Active Pallbearers.  Shayley Reed, Kennedy McGuffey, Macey Rice, Kinsley Reed, the men of Parlor Grove Baptist Church, and “Pops” work crew at Elliot will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
