Nita (Kitts) Fletcher, age 90, of Stanford, Kentucky, passed away peacefully Friday, December 26, 2025. Born Monday, October 21, 1935, in Stanford, she was the daughter of the late James & Grace Gladys (Potts) Kitts. Nita was the widow of the late Lou Fletcher, whom she married Friday, November 26, 1954, and preceded her in death Friday, April 19, 2024. Nita was a homemaker and member of Stanford Presbyterian Church, where she enjoyed the fellowship at the ladies’ activities. Nita enjoyed playing Bridge, needlepoint, cooking, gardening, and collecting antiques with Lou. She was very proud of her beautiful flowers and home. After 40 years of living in Richmond, Virginia, Lou and Nita moved back to Stanford to reconnect with family and friends. Those special family members and friends continued to support and visit Nita after Lou’s passing with visits, gifts, and keeping Nita always in their thoughts and prayers while residing at McDowell Place of Danville and Stanford Crossing.
Nita leaves behind one son, Terry R. Fletcher (Sandra) of Richmond, Virginia; two grandchildren, Katy Woskobunik (Tony) of Clifton, Virginia, and Patrick R. Fletcher (Brittany Haney) of Richmond; four great-grandchildren, Taylor, Sadie and Maxwell Woskobunik, and Pacey Fletcher; four sisters, Shelby Stevens (John) of Stanford, Lois Metzger of Versailles, Kentucky, Pat Kitts of Stanford, and Debbie Widner (Dennis) of Bald Knob, Arkansas; two brothers-in-law, Hershel Fletcher (Rita Wright) of Junction City, Kentucky, and Dallas Fletcher (Billie Ann) of Stanford; and numerous nieces, nephews and many other extended family members and friends whom mourn her passing.
In addition to her husband and parents, Nita was preceded in death by one brother-in-law, Bruce Metzger; four sisters-in-law, Amy Maxey, Sue Martin, Frankie Barlow, and Nancy Henson.
A Public Visitation will be held 12-1PM Saturday, January 3, 2026, at Fox & Friend Funeral Home.
A Public Funeral Service will be held 1PM Saturday, at the funeral home. Dennis Widner will officiate the service. The Funeral Service will be livestreamed on Nita’s memorial page of the funeral home’s website.
Burial will follow in Buffalo Springs Cemetery. Patrick Fletcher, Tony Woskobunik, Marty Clarkson, Greg Baird, Kent Ellis, and Buddy Pence will serve as Active Pallbearers. Hershel Fletcher and Dallas Fletcher will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
With enormous love, the family would like to thank Shelli Clarkson and Maddi Clarkson for the unwavering care of their Aunt Nita, while residing at Stanford Crossing. The family would also like to thank the entire staff at Stanford Crossing for the care they provided to Nita during her stay at their facility.
