Michael Lyn Dennis

Michael Lyn Dennis, age 77, of Lexington, Kentucky, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, September 11, 2025.  Born Tuesday, March 2, 1948, in Lexington, he was the son of the late Dudley & Rebecca (Steele) Dennis.  Michael was the widower of the late Peggy Gail (Peel) Dennis, to whom he was married for 23 years, and preceded him in death Thursday, December 1, 2022.  Michael was an airplane mechanic in the United States Air Force and served during Vietnam.  Once he returned from the military, he became a firefighter and retired from the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government.  Michael was a member of Southland Christian Church, where he volunteered with the Backpack Program.

Michael leaves behind one daughter, Dusty Dennis (Dawn Barrow) of Louisville, Kentucky; one step-son, Dennis Steffey (Dana) of Harrodsburg, Kentucky; one granddaughter, Faith Steffey of Lexington; one brother, Brian Dennis (Karen) of Lexington;  and one sister, Tonya Dennis Roach of California.

Michael was preceded in death by his wife and parents.

A Private Graveside Service will be held Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at Camp Nelson National Cemetery.  Burial will follow the service.
