Mazie C. Long

Mazie C. Long, age 83, of Stanford, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2024, in Lexington, Kentucky.  Born Saturday, August 31, 1940, in the Geneva Community of Lincoln County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Roscoe & Ella Mildred Young Coontz.  Her loving husband, whom she married Friday, August 9, 1957, is Joseph Wendell Long of Stanford.  Mazie was a homemaker and attended Lancaster First Assembly of God.  Mazie was a devoted Christian lady, loved spending time with her family, enjoyed reading her Bible, and loved decorating her home for each holiday season.

In addition to her husband, Mazie leaves behind one son, Wendell Keith Long of Stanford; three grandchildren, Jacquie McCowan (Kevin) of Greenville, South Carolina, Heather Nicole Long of Stanford, and Keisha DeAnne Saylor of Stanford; five great-grandchildren, Trenton Ray Smith, Michael Tre Floyd, Gavin Reece Smith, Carson Keith Saylor, and Kinsley DeAnne Saylor; one sister, Jo Ann Smith (Johnny) of Lancaster, Kentucky; and several other extended family members and friends who mourn her passing.

In addition to her parents, Mazie was preceded in death by one daughter, Tamala Joann Long; one granddaughter, Summer Michelle Long; and three brothers, Jackie Coontz, Billy Coontz, and Johnny Mac Coontz.

A Public Visitation will be held 9-11AM Friday, January 26, 2024, at Fox & Friend Funeral Home.

The Public Funeral Service will be held 11:00AM Friday, at the funeral home.  The Funeral Service will be livestreamed on Mazie’s memorial page of the funeral home’s website.

Burial will follow in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.  Josh Johnson, Larry Joe Long, Steve Rice, Tre Floyd, Gavin Smith, Carson Saylor, John Smith, and Rick Fisher will serve as Active Pallbearers.
