Marvin Lee Perry Obituary

Marvin Lee Perry, 78, of Bethelridge, KY, died at home surrounded by his beloved family on Wednesday evening, March 25, 2026.

Marvin was born December 16, 1947, in Stanford, KY, to Herbert and Bessie Snow Perry. He was a graduate of the 1966 class of Casey County High School in Liberty, KY. Marvin married Janet Wall Perry on April 28, 1967. They had two children: Tonya Perry Emerson born October 7, 1968; and Robert Lee Perry born on March 6, 1973; and raised three granddaughters Jennifer, Rachael, and Abigail. Marvin served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. After returning from war, Marvin devoted 33 years to a career with North Folk Southern Railroad and retired a Carman. He was a lifelong history enthusiast and had many hobbies including but not limited to beekeeping, fishing, farming, traveling, reading, etc. Marvin was known by many for his generous heart and was always willing to lend a hand for his community. Marvin loved to ride motorcycles and along with his wife, hosted several Poker runs with proceeds going to different charities including Shriners and cancer patients. In his later years, Marvin enjoyed traveling and spending time with the Mennonite and Amish Communities. He was a member of Mt. Olive Christian Church in Yosemite, KY.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents Herbert and Bessie Snow Perry, one brother Everette Ray “Butch” Perry, and his daughter Tonya Gayle Perry Emerson. Tonya passed away at the age of 32 from cancer.

Surviving to cherish his memories are his wife Janet Marie Wall Perry of Bethelridge, KY; son Robert (Carla) Perry of Salvisa, KY; granddaughter Jennifer (Chris) Snow of Yosemite, KY; granddaughter Rachael (Omar) Gonzalez of Kings Mountain, KY; granddaughter Abigail Emerson (Ethan Sweeno) of Lexington, KY; and great-grandchildren John Barber, Zack Snow, Zeke Gonzalez, and Mari Gonzalez.

Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, March 29, 2026, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Barnett, Demrow, and Friend Funeral Home in Waynesburg, KY. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 30, 2026, at 1:00pm by Bro. Greg Powell and Bishop James Shirk. Funeral services will be livestreamed on Marvin’s memorial page of the funeral home’s website.  Burial with military rights to follow at K.P. Hall Cemetery in Kings Mountain, KY. In past years, Marvin donated acreage to K.P. Hall in memory of his late daughter, Tonya. Serving as pallbearers will be Brent Ware, Skipper Todd, Tim Barber, Mike McQueen, Melvin Hurst, Cleason Bluebaker, Chris Snow, Omar Gonzalez, and John Barber. Honorary Pallbearers Harvy Hoover, Jimmy Floyd, Charles Johnson, Phillip Graham, and Danny Chambers.

Donations to K.P. Hall Cemetery, c/o David Gooch (175 Valley View Drive, Stanford, KY 40484) and Hospice of Somerset (100 Parkway Drive, Somerset, KY, 42503) would be appreciated by the family.
