Margaret Tillett

p>Margaret Tillett, 86, of Stanford, KY, passed away on Sunday, July 24, 2022, at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville. Born Monday, February 24, 1936, in the Jumbo Community of Lincoln County, she was a retired employee of the Lincoln County School District where she worked as a cook at Highland Elementary School for 27 years. Mrs. Tillett enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable gardens, was an avid reader, and loved watching the Hallmark Channel. She loved her grandchildren dearly and was a lifetime member of Mt. Moriah Christian Church.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, LeRoy Tillett whom she married on Thursday, November 24, 1955; two sons, Doug Tillett (Tina) of Stanford, KY, and Tim Tillett (the late Kathy) of Hustonville, KY; one brother, Johnny Carrier of Junction City, KY; one sister, Janice Smith of Stanford, KY; four grandchildren, Brook Tillett, Emily Taylor (Roger), Jamie Todd, and Jeremy Todd (Sharon); and seven great-grandchildren, Morgan Taylor, Sloane Taylor, Kesna Todd, Anna Grace Todd, Kate Todd, Brayden Todd, and Sarah Della Todd. She was preceded in death by her parents, Otis and Marie Gerkey Carrier.

A public visitation will be held Tuesday, July 26, 2022, from 5-8pm at Mt. Moriah Christian Church.

A public funeral service will be held at 11am on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at the church with Bro. Bill Gooch and Bro. Jeremy Pope officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Moriah Christian Church Cemetery. The funeral service will be livestreamed on Mrs. Tillett’s obituary page at www.friendfuneralhomes.com.

Casketbearers will be Jeremy Todd, Roger Taylor, Alvie Atwood, Larry Lewis, Raymond Lewis, Lynn Young, and Darrell Gourley. Honorary pallbearers are Mark Young, Brayden Todd, and Mrs. Tillett’s granddaughters.

Memorials in lieu of flowers may be given to Mt. Moriah Christian Church.
