Linda Kay Gerkey Sneed

Linda Kay Gerkey Sneed, age 68, of the Highland Community of Lincoln County, Kentucky, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at her home.  Born Sunday, November 3, 1957, in Stanford, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Carroll & Mayme Mason Gerkey.  Her loving husband, whom she married Friday, March 5, 1999, is Kenneth Lee “Ken” Sneed of Highland.  Linda retired from the Lincoln County School System, where she worked as a custodian at Highland Elementary School and was a bus monitor for the district.  Linda enjoyed fishing, camping, taking and collecting pictures, hummingbirds and windchimes. 

In addition to her husband, Linda leaves behind one son, Jason Smith of Highland; three step-sons, Timothy Sneed of the Ottenheim Community of Lincoln County, Kentucky, Matthew Sneed (Jessica) of McKinney, Kentucky, and Danny Dale Smith (Tonya) of the Broughtontown Community of Lincoln County, Kentucky ; four grandchildren, Kassi Adams (Slate), Bryor Smith, Lyla Sneed, Alyssa Smith, and Timothy Baker; one great-grandson, Parker Caudill; five brothers, Ed Gerkey (Eva) of New Jersey, Russell Gerkey (Eleanor) of New Jersey, Ralph Gerkey of McKinney, Ray Gerkey (Brenda) of McKinney, and Rick Gerkey of McKinney; three sisters, Phyllis Caudill (Roy), Ruth Mae Folger, and Mary Ann Yocum (Bobby) all of Highland; and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members and friends who mourn her passing.

In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by one brother, Dave Gerkey.

A Public Visitation will be held 11AM-1PM Friday, February 20, 2026, at Barnett, Demrow & Friend Funeral Home.

A Public Funeral Service will be held 1PM Friday, at the funeral home.  Bro. Jeff Sparks will officiate the service.

Burial will follow in Mt. Moriah Cemetery.  Dan Folger, Danny Smith, Carter Folger, Anthony Caudill, Timothy Baker, and Roy Eugene Caudill will serve as Active Pallbearers.  Bryor Smith will serve as Honorary Pallbearer.
