Leroy Skip "Junior" Lunsford, Jr.

Leroy Skip Lunsford, Jr., age 59, passed away Friday, November 29, 2024. Mr. Lunsford, known to friends and family as Junior, was born August 15, 1965, to Leroy Lunsford, Sr. and Phyllis Lunsford in Corpus Christie, Texas.  Junior was a heavy metal music enthusiast, an avid Pittsburgh Steelers & Kentucky Wildcats football fan, and enjoyed laughing at the comedic stylings of Jeff Dunham.  Junior also loved riding a Harley Davidson and cracking jokes; but not nearly as much as he loved his kids and grandkids making him laugh.

Junior made a good living driving 18-wheelers and inherited a passion for firefighting from his dad.  He worked with, and retired as, Captain from the Stanford City Fire Department.  He also taught firefighters at the Kentucky Community & Technical College System until his retirement.  Even after his retirement, he was very proud of being a firefighter and the people he trained to become firefighters. 

Junior was preceded in death by his loving father, Leroy “Skip” Lunsford, Jr., and his precious granddaughter, Peyton Paige Burkhart, along with various other friends and loved ones.

Junior is survived by (in no particular order), Karen Snow (fiancé), Phyllis Lunsford (mother), his siblings Michelle (Todd) Rutan, Mike (Lisa) Lunsford, Steven (Teresa) Lunsford, and Christopher Lunsford, his children Keith Warren, April (Christopher) Hernandez, Shania (Travis) Burton, Ashley (Chris) Preston, Courtney (Scotty) Burkhart, Gabriel “Gabe” Lunsford, multiple nieces and nephews, ten beautiful grandchildren, and his beloved pets Baby, Coco, and Bubbles.

Junior was loyal to his family and the Stanford City Fire Department.  His fiancé, mom, his kids and grandkids meant the world to him.  He loved them all fiercely and was especially enamored with his fiancé.

Junior’s last wishes were for his family and friends to use the time following his death as a time of personal growth and a time to make peace with each other.  He wanted his family and friends to know that he loved each of them and that he was not afraid of death, as it is a new beginning for him with his dad and granddaughter.

Cremation Rites have been honored.

A Public Visitation will be held 1-2PM Monday, December 2, 2024, at Fox & Friend Funeral Home.

A Public Memorial Service will be held 2:00PM Monday, at the funeral home.  Bro. David Bullock will officiate the service.
