Leroy “Buddy” Tillett, Jr.

Leroy (Buddy) Tillett, Jr., passed from this life on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at UK Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky.  He was born Friday, November 13, 1931, in Stanford, Kentucky, to Leroy Tillett, Sr. and Ada Easter Campbell Tillett.  Buddy was a United States Army Veteran, who served in the Korean War from 1951-1953.

Buddy was a member of Mt. Moriah Christian Church in Highland.  He spent many years farming, working at Cowden’s, and retired from Whirlpool.  Married on Thanksgiving Day, November 24, 1956, he wed his late wife of 66 years, in their preacher’s home.

He and Margaret loved to travel to the beach with Warren, Betty, and the kids.  Buddy was certainly a people-person, who was always seen with a smile.  He enjoyed talking with friends at McDonald’s, and on the Fourth of July, he enjoyed hosting a family picnic.  Buddy was always telling his granddaughters a story about how times were when he grew up.  He was and will always be known as “Pappoo” to the grands and the great-grands.

Buddy leaves behind two sons, Doug Tillett (Tina) of Stanford, and Tim  (Rhonda Bullock) Tillett of Hustonville, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Brook Tillett, Emily (Roger) Taylor, Jamie Todd, and Jeremy (Sharon) Todd; seven great-grandchildren; four siblings, Betty (the late Warren) Burton; Lynn (Carol) Tillett, Mark Tillett, and Gail (Denny) Hogue; and several other extended family members and friends who mourn his passing. 

In addition to his wife and parents, Buddy was preceded in death by two sisters, Ann Willett and Brenda Howell; and two nephews, Matt Tillett and Mark Tillett.

Public Visitations will be held 5-8PM Wednesday, March 25, 2026, and 9-11AM Thursday, March 26, 2026, at Mt. Moriah Christian Church.

A Public Funeral Service will be held 11AM Thursday, at the church.  Bro. Bill Gooch & Bro. Jeremy Todd will officiate the service.  The Funeral Service will be livestreamed on Buddy’s memorial page of the funeral home’s website.

Burial, with Full Military Honors, will follow in Mt. Moriah Cemetery.  Roger Taylor, Lee Burton, Wayne Greer, Aaron Psimer, Danny Withrow, and Brayden Todd will serve as Active Pallbearers.  Sandy & Bobby Benge, Effie Todd, Mark Young, Dudley Lewis, and Larry Lewis will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
