Laverne “Kathy” Beatty, age 74, of the South Fork Community in Lincoln County, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, January 7, 2024, at her residence. Born Friday, June 17, 1949, in South Fork, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Chester C. and Essie Smith Martin. Kathy attended Mt. Salem Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and spending time with her grandbabies.
Kathy leaves behind three daughters, Valinda Beatty of South Fork, Vinita Carter (Greg) of Waynesburg, Kentucky, and Vanessa Coleman (Johnny) of South Fork; one step daughter, Bula Sims of Angel Ridge; two step sons, Arthur Greer (Linda) of Waynesburg, and James Greer (Suzanne) of Lexington, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Johnny Coleman II (Andrea), Tiffini Unthank, DJ Beatty, Joshua Coleman, and Ricky Carter; four step grandchildren, Brianna Coleman, Cassidy Greer, Seth Greer, and Gabby Sims; nine great grandchildren; one step great granddaughter; and one step great grandson due in July 2024; one sister, Linda Carol Holton of South Fork; and her precious dog, Lucky.
In addition to her parents, Kathy was preceded in death by her two husbands, Norman T. “Rick” Beatty (1997), and James Philmore Greer (2015).
A Public Visitation will be held 5-8PM Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at Fox & Friend Funeral Home.
A Public Funeral Service will be held 1:00PM Thursday, January 11, 2024, at the funeral home. Bro. Kevin Pittman will officiate the service. The Funeral Service will be livestreamed on Kathy’s memorial page of the funeral home’s website.
Burial will follow in New Salem Cemetery. Johnny Coleman, Greg Carter, Johnny Coleman II, Josh Coleman, Ricky Carter, and Arthur Greer will serve as Active Pallbearers.
