Lana Faye Hixson peacefully left this world on June 23rd, 2026, at her home surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on December 26th, 1951 in Danville, Kentucky to the late Dallas “Peanut” and Fama Patterson. Her first four years of education was at the one-room school house Pond School before she transferred to Waynesburg Elementary and onto Memorial High School where she graduated in 1969 and remained close with her classmates. She was saved on December 27th, 1959, and was baptized on March 28th, 1960. She was a faithful servant of the lord and was a member of Pond Missionary Baptist Church for 57 years and served in various roles such as Pianist, Organist, Sunday School Teacher, Clerk, and Treasurer for 45 years. She married the love of her life, Joe Hixson on January 3rd, 1970 and together they had two daughters, six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. She was active in her community and was a founding member of the Lincoln County Drug Coalition and Waynesburg Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary. She loved canning, gardening, farming, and babysitting many children in the community. She especially loved her grandchildren and spending time with them.
Lana leaves behind her husband; two daughters, Michelle Hixson and Jill (Darrin) Smith; six grandchildren, Justin Watson, Courtney (Coleton) Hixson-Terry, JT (Brittany) Watson, Gunnar (Brittany) Williams, Tara Watson, and Trent Watson; and two great-grandchildren, Chloe Watson and Alessia Williams; one sister, Gail Hamilton; and one brother, Linville (Janet) Patterson; and a host of extended family, friends, and loved ones.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved sister, Linda Roberts.
Visitations will be held from 4-8 pm on Saturday, June 27th, 2026, and 12-2 pm on Sunday, June 28th, 2026, with funeral services beginning at 2 PM Sunday at Pond Missionary Baptist Church. Bro. Kevin Bullock will officiate the service. The funeral service will be livestreamed on Lana’s memorial page of the funeral home’s website.
Burial will follow at Pond Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Trent Watson, Justin Watson, JT Watson, Gunnar Williams, Coleton Terry, and Brian Simpson.
