John Mitchell Gibson Obituary

John Mitchell Gibson, age 71, of Waynesburg, Kentucky, formerly of Goshen, Ohio, passed away Thursday, March 23, 2023.  Born Sunday, March 25, 1951, in Cincinnati, Ohio, he was the son of the late James Henderson & Wanetta Gray Gibson.  John was a US Marine Corps Veteran, who actively served October 10, 1972-September 9, 1974.  John previously worked as a welder and enjoyed motorcycle riding, fishing, and building birdhouses.

John leaves behind one son, Samuel Shane Gibson of London, Kentucky; three daughters, Jennifer Nelson (James) of Lake City, Florida, Carla Wilson (Rodney) of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Emily Randolph (Brent) of Huntsville, Alabama; 11 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; one brother, J.M. Gibson of Warner Robins, Georgia; two sisters, Barbara Shank (Bruce) of Amelia, Ohio, and Wanetta Gibson (Robert Floyd) of Waynesburg, Kentucky; and several other extended family members and friends who mourn his passing.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in the death by one brother, James Henderson Gibson, Jr.; and one sister, Betty Waters. 

A Public Graveside Service, with Full Military Honors and Burial, will take place 12:30PM Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at Camp Nelson National Cemetery in Nicholasville, Kentucky.
