John Alben Tackett, age 61, of Lexington, Kentucky, formerly of Mount Sterling, Kentucky, & Winchester, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, March 12, 2023, in Lexington. Born Tuesday, May 16, 1961, in Somerset, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Alben Barkley and Maxine Black Tackett. John was a US Navy Veteran and graduate of Morehead State University, with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting & Information Systems and a minor in Classical Piano. In the past was pursuing his real estate license and pilot license. As a young man, John held a black belt in Martial Arts. He was of the Christian faith. John was a proud pet parent and loved his dogs. He enjoyed chess, gardening, cooking, reading, and playing the piano. One of his recent hobbies was Vermiculture. His last words to his family, before his illness took over his body was, “I see God”.
John leaves behind one sister, Debra Wishart (Jim) of Lexington; two nieces, Sara Sleightholm of Lexington, and Amanda Sleightholm of Lexington; and several extended family members and friends who mourn his passing.
Public Visitations will be held 6-8PM Saturday, March 18, 2023, and 12-2PM Sunday, March 19, 2023, at Barnett, Demrow & Friend Funeral Home.
The Public Funeral Service will be held 2:00PM Sunday, at the funeral home. Bro. Kerry Jones will officiate the service.
Burial will follow in Double Springs Cemetery.
