Joan Hurst Rudd, age 92, of Palm Coast, Florida, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at UK Hospital. Jo was a Kentucky native and returned home for the last few years of her life to be taken care of by her family, who loved her dearly.
Born Friday, September 15, 1933, in Stanford, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Lincoln & Ida Mae Hurst. Jo is preceded in death by one grandson, Rob Langford; her two brothers, Raymond & Bobby Hurst; and two sisters, Gladys (George) Cunningham and Laverne Smith.
Jo leaves behind three daughters, Pamela (John) Stagg of Garrard County, Tina (Doug) Tillett) of Lincoln County, and Peggy (the late Paul) Evans of Pulaski County; six grandchildren, Alex Stagg, Elizabeth (Colby) Sultzbach, Justin (Zoe) Smith, Brook Tillett, Emily (Roger) Taylor, Desaray (Jacob) Bowman. She also leaves behind twelve great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends who mourn her passing.
Jo, and her daughters, spent past years living on Herrington Lake and made wonderful memories. Her hobbies were water skiing, playing badminton, rook cards, and sewing clothes for her daughters and their Barbie dolls. Lets not forget the family and friend weekend fish fries, with the Smith, Hurst, Kidd, and Domidion’s. Jo loved fried green tomatoes. She and Sue (her partner in crime) could sometimes be seen late at night with their flashlights sneaking a few green tomatoes from uncle Ernest’s garden.
A Public Graveside Service will be held 1PM Friday, April 17, 2026, at the shelter of Buffalo Springs Cemetery. Bro. Jason Coulter will officiate the service. Burial will follow the service.
Fox & Friend Funeral Home, Stanford, is entrusted with Jo’s arrangements. Guest Book at www.friendfuneralhomes.com.
