Jimmy Pumphrey

Jimmy Pumphrey, age 78, of Stanford, passed away in Danville on Friday, December 29, 2023.  Born Thursday, January 11, 1945, he was the son of the late Chester Otis and Maudie Marie Jenkins Pumphrey.  He was the widow of the late Dolores Pumphrey who preceded him in death on January 30, 2012.  Jimmy retired from the Railroad with over 31 years’ service.  He also had a lifelong love of CB Radio, where he made many friends across the Country.

Jimmy is survived by sons, Will Pumphrey (Dodie), of Somerset; Dennis Pumphrey (Melissa), of West Virgina; Joseph Pumphrey (Melissa), of Stanford; daughters, Beverly Rice (Charley), of Alabama; Charlotte Pumphrey, of Junction City; Jennifer O. Pumphrey (Junior), of Stanford; 15 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; sisters, Juanita Stenson and Lori Pumphrey.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter Gladys M. Salyers; brothers Otis Junior Pumphrey, William Ray Pumphrey; sisters, Lyda Stout, Pearl Lecompt, and Mae McMahan.

A Funeral Service will be held 1:00PM Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at Barnett, Demrow & Friend Funeral Home with Bro. John Redding officiating the service.  Burial will follow at Sims Cemetery in Kings Mountain.

The Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, from 11:00-1:00 at the Funeral Home.
