James R. Partin, age 80, passed away Sunday, March 16, 2025, at his residence in Waynesburg, Kentucky. Born Wednesday, November 8, 1944, in Pineville, Kentucky, to the late Tilden Partin and Polly Fields Partin. James was a self-employed carpenter and was a US Army Veteran, having served from January 1965 to December 1966. He attended Parlor Grove Baptist Church.
James leaves behind two daughters, Charlotte Smith of Parksville, Kentucky, and Diana Payne (Stanley) of Brodhead, Kentucky; two grandchildren, Cody Smith of Parksville, and Courtney Payne of Brodhead; three great grandchildren, Levi Smith, Channah Silvers, and Sage Payne; and one sister, Beulah Skeens of Crab Orchard, Kentucky.
In addition to his parents James was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Elizabeth Ann “Pug” Padgett; one granddaughter, Cassi Smith; two brothers, Harold Partin, and Herman Partin; and two sisters, Dixie King, and Henrietta Dunn.
The Public Visitation will be held 5-8PM Thursday, March 20, 2025, at Barnett, Demrow & Friend Funeral Home.
The Public Funeral Service will be at 1:00PM Friday, March 21, 2025, at the funeral home. Bro. Josh Pennington will be officiating the service. The Funeral Service will be livestreamed on James’s memorial page of the funeral home’s website.
Burial will follow in Parlor Grove Cemetery with Full Military Honors performed by Caswell-Saufley Post #18 of the American Legion. Cody Smith, Justin Smith, Shane Padgett, Danny Pitman, Stanley Payne, and James Todd will serve as Active Pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions suggested to Parlor Grove Cemetery Fund.
