James Keith “Jimmie” Badgett, age 81, of Frankfort, Kentucky, formerly of Lincoln County, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, August 18, 2024, in Frankfort. Born Wednesday, May 5, 1943, in Louisville, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Thomas Faulkner & Carrie Potts Badgett. He was reared a good deal of his life in the home of his grandparents, Tom & Grace Badgett of Stanford, Kentucky.
Jimmie was a 1962 graduate of Stanford High School, a 1972 graduate of Western Kentucky University with a Bachelor of Music Education Degree, and in 1982, he received his Master of Art in Education/Music Degree from Eastern Kentucky University. He also lived in the home of his aunt and uncle, Dr. Joseph Chester & Ruth Cloyd Badgett while attending Campbellsville College.
Jimmie’s first teaching job was to start an instrumental/band program at Cumberland County High School. From there, he served as band director in the McLean County Schools. He spent the next 21 years as an elementary music teacher in Lincoln County, in the schools of Highland, Kings Mountain, and Waynesburg Elementary. After moving to Franklin County, he substitute taught for 13 years.
In addition to his parents, Jimmie was preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, Carol E. Godfrey Jacobs Badgett; his great-granddaughter, Leilani Monica Badgett; and his two sisters, Barbara Franklin and Donna Sue Montgomery.
Jimmie is survived by two sons, Lynn Clark (Marisa) Badgett of Claremore, Oklahoma, and James Tyler (Kayla McIntosh) Badgett of Frankfort; two bonus daughters, Sherri Jacobs (John) Turner of Winchester, Kentucky, and Sandy Jacobs (Junior) Hendrickson of Stanford; one grandson, Nathaniel H. Badgett; one granddaughter, Isabel Grace Badgett; bonus grandchildren, John Nicholas (April) Turner, Robert Allen (Ashley) Turner, Hillary Turner, Jordan (Yvonne) Turner, Greg (Shawna) Hendrickson, Adam Hendrickson, and Kevin Hendrickson; bonus great-grandchildren, John Michael Turner, Aaliyah Turner, Ariyana Coomer, Stephanie Tillson Julian Martin, and Bevyn Hendrickson; one brother-in-law, Charlie Bill Montgomery; and several other extended family members and friends who mourn his passing.
A Public Visitation will be held 11AM-1PM Saturday, August 24, 2024, at Fox & Friend Funeral Home.
A Public Funeral Service will be held 1:00PM Saturday, at the funeral home. Bro. David Gambrel will officiate the service. The Funeral Service will be livestreamed on Jimmie’s memorial page of the funeral home’s website.
Burial will follow in Hustonville Cemetery. Nathaniel Badgett, Toma Havens, Jami Montgomery, Adam Hendrickson, Greg Hendrickson, Kevin Hendrickson, and John Turner will serve as Active Pallbearers. All of Mr. Badgett’s former “KIDZ” from Cumberland, McLean, and Lincoln County Schools will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
