Obituary

James Stamper, age 95, of Liberty, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, March 7, 2021, at his home.  Born Sunday, September 6, 1925 in Olive Hill, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Jefferson Wheeler & Letha Mae Fannin Stamper.  James was the widower of the late Ruby Helen Campbell Stamper, who preceded him in death Wednesday, April 10, 2013.  James was a US Army WWII Veteran, who served 1943-1946.  James owned a barber shop in Olive Hill, for many years; and also retired as a rural mail carrier, working there for 30 years.  James was the past Commander (1955-1957) from the American Legion Post #138, and was a member of the Olive Hill Lodge No. 629, F&AM.  James was a skilled carpenter.  He also enjoyed fishing, watching birds, caring for his hummingbirds and song birds, hunting, working crossword puzzles, playing cards, and reading.

James leaves behind one daughter, Jean Potts Blumer (Phil) of Shalimar, Florida; two grandchildren, Heath Scott Blumer (Vashti) of Crestview, Florida, and Erin Blumer Bunnell (Jay) of Estero, Florida; three great-grandchildren, Payton Blumer, Lexi Blumer, and Jacob Bunnell; two sisters, Esther Stamper Rose and Magdalene Stamper Blizzard both of Round Rock, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews and other extended family members and friends who mourn his passing. 

In addition to his wife and parents, James was preceded in death by an infant son, James Jefferson Stamper; two brothers, Teddy Stamper and Clayton Stamper; and one sister, Ruth Stamper.

A Public Visitation will be held 11AM-1PM Saturday, March 13, 2021, at Fox & Friend Funeral Home. 

The Public Funeral Service will be held 1:00PM Saturday at the funeral home.  Bro. Kerry Jones will officiate the service.

A Graveside Service with Masonic Rites & Full Military Honors performed by American Legion Post #138 will be held 1:00PM Sunday, March 14, 2021 at Olive Hill Memorial Park.  Burial will follow the service.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to COVID -19 regulations, face coverings must be worn by all in attendance for the Public Visitation, the Funeral Service, and the Graveside Service; and social distancing guidelines must be followed.
