Herman Stanley Cornett, Sr., age 80, of Waynesburg, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at his residence. Born Tuesday, October 21, 1941, in Waynesburg to the late Chester and Maggie McKnight Cornett. Herman was a US Army Veteran where he survived 11 months and 21 days in Vietnam. He owned and operated Cornett and Sons Grocery for almost 40 years. Herman raised three kids that he was proud of. His children were his life for several years.
He is survived by one son, Wesley Madison Cornett (Carlee) of Waynesburg; one daughter, Jana Noakes of Stanford, Kentucky; six grandchildren, Madison Cornett, Greyson Wray Cornett, Sophia Cornett, Marricca Bentley, Kimberly Cornett and Chase Noakes; three great grandchildren, Ava King, Chevy King, and Hadley Noakes; one brother, Chester Cornett (Barbara) of Stanford; and one sister, Leanor Bowman of Waynesburg; and two very special people in his life, Regina Hoover Heath, and Dave Hoover.
In addition to his parents, Herman was preceded in death by one son, Herman Stanley Cornett, Jr.: three brothers, Wendell Cornett, Earnest Cornett, and an infant brother: four sisters, Charity Cornett, Ann Cornett, Francis Godbey, and Betty Foister; and a special friend, Nancy Hoover.
A Public Visitation will be held 11-2PM Saturday, July 30, 2022, at Pleasant View Baptist Church.
A Public Funeral Service will be held 2:00PM Saturday at the church. Bro. Ronnie Haste and Wes Cornett will officiate the service. Burial will follow in Double Springs Cemetery. Greyson Wray Cornett, Harold Gourley, Roger Lawery, Dwayne Cornett, George Warren Pike, and Chase Noakes will serve as Active Pallbearers. Tyrone Eldridge, The BP and Shellmart Coffee and card crews will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
