Greg Monroe, age 73, of Science Hill, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, October 22, 2023, in Somerset, Kentucky. Born Wednesday, July 12, 1950, in Harrodsburg, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Rudolph and Georgia Cammack Monroe. His loving wife is Marilee Hatter Monroe of Science Hill. Greg previously worked at Monroe Pallet Mill and attended Newell Christian Fellowship. He was a US Army Veteran. Greg enjoyed watching sports, playing cards, and going out to eat. He especially loved his cat, Marcy who was The Boss.
In addition to his wife, Greg leaves behind one brother, Lonnie Monroe (Wanda) of Whitley City, Kentucky; two sisters, Chandra Measel (Mark) of Waynesburg, Kentucky, and Pam Looney (Irv) of Florida; along with several nieces and nephews who mourn his passing.
In addition to his parents, Greg was preceded in death by one brother, Michael Monroe.
A Public Visitation will be held 11AM-2PM Thursday, October 26, 2023, at Barnett, Demrow & Friend Funeral Home.
The Public Funeral Service will be held 2:00PM Thursday, at the funeral home. Bro. Bob Cole will officiate the service. The Funeral Service will be livestreamed on Greg’s memorial page on the funeral home’s website.
Burial will follow in Eubank Cemetery. Active Pallbearers are Mike Hatter, Dennis Woods, Bobby Witt, Steve Kelly, Justin Kelly, and Hershel Blackburn. Honorary Pallbearers are Mike Monroe, Johnny Lay, and Randall Baugh.
