Gary Lionel Combs, age 85, of Waynesburg, Kentucky, passed away Monday, January 8, 2024, in Danville, Kentucky. Born Saturday, August 27, 1938, in Waynesburg, he was the son of the late John and Elma Ward Combs. Gary leaves behind his wife, Barabara Combs of Waynesburg, whom he married Saturday, December 28, 1974. He was a member of Mt. Moriah Christian Church and a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association. Gary enjoyed flying model airplanes and farming.
In addition to his wife, Gary leaves behind two sons, Gary Combs, Jr. of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Bradley Hoover (Melissa) of Waynesburg; one daughter, Oveta Dawn Mitchell of Paris, Tennessee; 7 grandchildren;15 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and a very close friend, Richie Roberts.
In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by one brother, Dwayne Combs.
A Public Visitation will be held 6-8PM Thursday, January 11, 2024, at Barnett, Demrow & Friend Funeral Home.
A Public Funeral Service will be held 1:00PM Friday, January 12, 2024, at the funeral home. Bro. Bill Gooch will officiate the service. The Funeral Service will be livestreamed on Gary’s memorial page on the funeral home’s website.
Burial will follow in Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Bradley Hoover, Gary Combs, Jr., BJ Hoover, Coty Combs, Richie Roberts, and Tommy Murphy will serve as Active Pallbearers.
