Gail Gastineau, age 66, of Stanford, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at Stanford Care & Rehabilitation following an extended illness. Born Wednesday, December 5, 1956, in Berea, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Shirley Ann Hammons Smith of Waynesburg, Kentucky, and the late Russell Bentley Miller. Gail previously worked in various positions at Stanford House Nursing Home and retired from working for the state through Adult Protective Services in Garrard & Lincoln Counties. Gail was a member of Parlor Grove Baptist Church and loved to travel, draw, and paint. Gail loved her family dearly and never met a stranger anywhere she would go.
In addition to her mother, Gail leaves behind two sons, Danny William Gastineau of Burnside, Kentucky, and Derek Justin Gastineau of Stanford; two sisters, Sherry Moore (Brad) of Burnside, and Cindy Hildebrandt (Jeff) of Waynesburg; four half-brothers, Harold Miller, Ricky Miller, Charles Miller, and George Miller; three half-sisters, Janice Miller, Anna Evans, and Donna Asher; three grandchildren, Hannah Gastineau, Mason Gastineau, and Jon Gastineau; one great-granddaughter, Amberlee Yocum; special nephew and niece, T.J. Fields and Shai Fields; and numerous other extended family members and friends who mourn her passing.
In addition to her father, Gail was preceded in death by two brothers, Henry Clay Smith II and Eddie Ray Carpenter; and one half-brother, Mark Miller.
A Public Visitation will be held 11AM-2PM Monday, September 11, 2023, at Barnett, Demrow & Friend Funeral Home.
A Public Funeral Service will be held 2:00PM Monday, at the funeral home. Bro. David Gambrel will officiate the service. The Funeral Service will be livestreamed on Gail’s memorial page of the funeral home’s website.
Burial will follow in Double Springs Cemetery. Jeff Hildebrandt, Brad Moore, T.J. Fields, Davy Hatter, Tim Gambrel, and Wendell Combs will serve as Active Pallbearers.
