Flora Bedwell Russell

Flora Bedwell Russell, age 63, of Stanford, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, May 2, 2024, at her daughter and son-in-law’s home.  Born Monday, December 26, 1960, in Cumberland, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Silas Andrew & Markie A. Couch Bedwell.  Her loving husband of 33 years was James “Jimmy Dale” Russell, who preceded her in death Sunday, March 8, 2020.  Flora was a homemaker, and previously worked at various local McDonald’s, Danville Country Club, and R&R Donnelly.  She previously attended Blue Lick Baptist Church and Grace Fellowship Church.  Flora was proud of her heritage, where she was half Cherokee Indian by her mother, one quarter Blackfoot & Apache Indian and German by her father.  Flora enjoyed playing with her grandchildren, fishing, drawing, gardening, working puzzle games, and playing the guitar, mandolin, and banjo. 

Flora leaves behind one daughter, Markie Rogers (Charles “Chawa”) of Stanford; five grandchildren, Kenneth Melvin McArthur “Scooter Booter” Penman of Lexington, Kentucky, Cheyenne Rose “Rosey Posey” Rogers of Somerset, Kentucky, Landon Isaiah “Landon Bandon” Rogers of Somerset, Bruce Wayne “Brucie Rucie” Rogers of Somerset, and Charles Matthew “Charlie” Rogers of Stanford; two sisters, Mary Joe-Anna Bedwell Stull of Kings Mountain, Kentucky, and Della Bedwell Ramey (Daniel) of Junction City, Kentucky; two brothers, James Bedwell of Waynesburg, Kentucky, and Jerry Bedwell (Felicia) of Ogdon, Utah; and several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members and friends who mourn her passing.

In addition to her husband and parents, Flora was preceded in death by four brothers, Tom Bedwell, Billy Bedwell, David Bedwell, and Won Alonzo Bedwell (infant). 

A Public Visitation will be held 11AM-1PM Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at Fox & Friend Funeral Home. 

A Public Funeral Service will be held 1:00PM Wednesday, at the funeral home.  Bro. Kerry Jones will officiate the service.  The Funeral Service will be livestreamed on Flora’s memorial page of the funeral home’s website. 

Burial will follow in New Salem Cemetery.
