Fern Murphy Roberts

Fern Murphy Roberts, age 84, of Stanford, Kentucky, formerly of Kings Mountain, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, March 7, 2020.  Born Friday, April 19, 1935 in Kings Mountain, she was the daughter of the late Vernon & Anna Sims Murphy.  Fern was the widow of the late Noel Lee Roberts, whom she married Monday, October 9, 1950, and preceded her in death Friday, February 3, 1995.  Fern retired from Cowden’s Manufacturing in Stanford and was of the Nazarene faith.  She was very active in the Lincoln County Senior Citizens and enjoyed working puzzles in her spare time.

Fern leaves behind two daughters, Rhonda Williams (Mark) and Carol Roberts Sims both of Stanford; four grandchildren, Christopher Williams (Laura) of Lancaster, Kentucky, Kelly Murphy (Jason) of Stanford, Angela Spears (Jon) of Somerset, Kentucky, and Stephanie Powers of Stanford; nine great-grandchildren, Dylan Williams, Caroline Powers, Cooper Spears, Abigail Murphy, Emma Murphy, JoJo Murphy, Noah Scofield, Sarah Scofield, and Hannah Scofield; one brother, Jeffrey Murphy (Tonya) of Waynesburg, Kentucky; three sisters, Clara Ann Mitchell (Kenneth) of Waynesburg, Barbara Eldridge of Crittenden, Kentucky, and Brenda Yocum (Alvin) of Kings Mountain; two sister-in-laws, Leona Murphy of Kings Mountain, and Karen Murphy of Dry Ridge, Kentucky; and several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members and friends who mourn her passing. 

In addition to her husband and parents, Fern was preceded in death by two brothers, Clifford Murphy and Henley Murphy. 

A Funeral Service will be held 1:00PM Monday, March 9, 2020 at Barnett, Demrow & Friend Funeral Home with Bro. Buford Edwards officiating the service.  Burial will follow in Sims Cemetery on Robertstown Road in Kings Mountain.  Dylan Williams, Jon Spears, Jason Murphy, Jarrett Murphy, Scottie Eldridge, Thomas Mitchell, Christopher Williams, and Robert Eldridge will serve as Active Pallbearers.  Vernon Ray Mitchell, and her friends at Lincoln County Senior Citizens, will serve as Honorary Pallbearers. 

The Visitation will be held 11AM-1PM Monday at the funeral home.
