Fama Thompson Greer

Fama Thompson Greer, age 90, of Kings Mountain, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, September 11, 2022, in Danville, Kentucky. Born Wednesday, October 21, 1931, in Duncan, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Luther and Clara Robertson Thompson. Fama was the widow of the late Odell Greer, whom she married Saturday, July 10, 1954, and preceded her in death Sunday, June 22, 1980. Fama was a member of Locust Grove Baptist Church. She was a nurse and loved raising her children and grandchildren.

She leaves behind one son, Joey Greer (Sheila) of Kings Mountain; one daughter, Rhonda Clark (Brent) of Greenville, Kentucky; six grandchildren, Gary N. Farris of Science Hill, Kentucky, Amanda Maggard (James) of Blue John, Kentucky, Jacob Greer of Moreland, Kentucky, Jonathan Greer of Kings Mountain, Elizabeth Rohl (Tom) of Booneville, Indiana, and Alexander Clark (Emily) of Greenville, Kentucky; eight great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; one brother, Eugene Thompson, of Hebron, Kentucky; two sisters, Janet Williams (Beckham) of Nicholasville, Kentucky, and Charlotte Hempfling (Jim) of Florence, Kentucky; a son in law, Ron Zimmerman of Science Hill; and a “bonus daughter” Robin Gooch of Kings Mountain.

In addition to her husband and parents, Fama was preceded in death by one daughter, Judy Zimmerman; one brother, Hurston Thompson; and one sister, Iva Dean Sowers.

A Public Visitation will be held 12-2:00PM Friday, September 16, 2022, at Fox and Friend Funeral Home.

A Public Funeral Service will be held 2:00PM Friday, at the funeral home. Bro. Tim Jones & Bro. Keith Bowling will officiate the service.  A Nurse Honor Guard Ceremony will take place at the end of the Funeral Service.  The Funeral Service will be live streamed on Fama’s tribute page of the funeral home’s website.

Burial will follow in KP Hall Cemetery. Gary N. Farris, Jacob Greer, Jonathan Greer, Alexander Clark, James Maggard, Tom Rohl, Parker Zimmerman, and Alejandro Ramirez will serve as Active Pallbearers.
