Fama Mae Patterson Obituary

Obituary for Fama Mae Patterson

October 16, 1928-December 24, 2023

Fama Mae Adams Patterson was born Tuesday, October 16, 1928, and passed peacefully from this life on Sunday, December 24, 2023, at her home.  Fama was the oldest of 8 children born to Noel and Mattie Sims Adams and the devoted wife of Dallas “Peanut” Patterson, whom she married Saturday, December 11, 1948. She lived most of her life in the Grove Ridge and Pond Ridge communities.  She was preceded in death by her parents and six of her siblings, as well as her husband, Peanut, and their oldest child, Linda Ann Roberts. Fama was a lifelong member and filled many roles at Pond Baptist Church.

Fama was the mother of four children, Linda (and Danny) Roberts of Nicholasville, Lana (and Joe) Hixson, Gail Hamilton, and Lynville (and Janet) Patterson all living in the Pond Ridge community of Kings Mountain, KY.  She was “Grannie” to 10 grandchildren, Dedra (and Danny) Lane, Michelle Hixson, Nicole (and Darrin) Buskirk, Kellie (and Mark) Wilson, Jill (and Darrin) Smith, Tim (and Missy) Roberts, Tom Roberts, Bridgett (and David) Blakeman, Sonny (and Sara) Patterson, and Stephanie (and Jeff) Wesley; 22 great grandchildren; and one great, great grandchild.  She is also survived by one sister, Tootsie (and Gilbert) Gooch of Waynesburg, Kentucky; and numerous other family members and friends who mourn her passing.

Fama was a worker.  Anyone who knew this incredible lady knew that she could outwork and outlast most anyone in the field or on the farm.  She worked as a seamstress for Cowden’s Manufacturing for many years, but farming was her passion. She was mostly at home alongside Peanut in the fields, on a tractor, or in the barns working together to raise their family.  Fama spent her life showing her family and those around her how to quietly go about the business of doing a job well and taking care of those you love.  Her family rests easy knowing she is finally reunited with Peanut, Linda, and other family and friends who preceded her in death.  She is finally home.

A Public Visitation will be held 11AM-2PM Thursday, December 28, 2023, at Pond Baptist Church.
