Emma Padgett McGuffey, age 93, of Stanford, Kentucky, formerly of the Highland Community, passed away Friday, October 16, 2020 at Stanford Care and Rehabilitation in Stanford. Born Tuesday, October 19, 1926 in Pulaski County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Jim and Arlie Parks Dick. Emma was a member of Fairview Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday School teacher and choir member for many years. She enjoyed reading her Bible, cooking and gardening.
Emma leaves behind one son, Douglas Padgett (Teresa) of Waynesburg, Kentucky; two daughters, Linda Thompson (Norville) of Stanford and Donna Perkins of Waynesburg; six grandchildren, Dawn Hanes (Tim) of Burleson, Texas, Melanie Hutti (Matt) of Stanford, Josh Thompson (Juliana Wallhausser) of Berea, Kentucky, Jeremiah Perkins (Roccy) of Waynesburg, Zach Padgett (Alla) of Versailles, Kentucky and Laura Thompson (Sean Hager) of Lexington, Kentucky;14 great grandchildren who called her “Big Granny;” one step-sister, Billie Agee of Pulaski County; and several special nieces and nephews who mourn her passing.
In addition to her parents, Emma was preceded in death by two husbands, Stanley Padgett and Fonzo McGuffey; one son in law, Jimmy Perkins; seven brothers, Coy, James, Curtis, Jimmy, Don, Jack and Bill Dick; and four sisters, Helen Walls, Clodia Reid, Ruby Dick and Dorothy Releford.
A Funeral Service will be held 2:00PM Monday, October 19, 2020 at Fox and Friend Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery. Emma’s grandsons will serve as Active Pallbearers and her granddaughters will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
The Visitation will be held 5-8PM Sunday, October 18, 2020 at the funeral home.
