Dwaine Cary Martin, age 82, of Stanford, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, September 22, 2024, at his home. Born Sunday, July 12, 1942, in El Cajon (San Diego County), California, he was the son of the late Dixon Blount & Lydia Joy Weber Martin. His loving wife, whom he married Wednesday, August 2, 1961, is Cherie Carew Martin of Stanford. Dwaine retired as a Battalion Chief for the California Department of Forestry. Dwaine and Cherie served the Lord faithfully together throughout their marriage. For over 26 years, they served those in need through the California and Kentucky Disaster Relief Teams. They also served as chaplain for many of those years. Dwaine was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, Dwaine leaves behind one daughter, Raquelle “Kelly” Zencka of Louisville, Kentucky; three grandchildren, Kevin Michael Zencka of Louisville, Kaitlyn Nicole Zencka of Louisville, and Ryan David Zencka (Ariane) of Pensacola, Florida; five great-grandchildren, Ashlii Zencka, Kylie Zencka, Zoe Zencka, Kevin Zencka, and Andrew Dwaine Zencka; and several other extended family members and friends who mourn his passing.
In addition to his parents, Dwaine was preceded in death by one son, Dixon Budd Martin; two brothers, Ronald Martin and Garnell Martin; and one sister, Jeneane Harer.
Cremation Rites honored.
A Public Celebration of Life Service will be held 1:00PM Saturday, October 19, 2024, at Fox & Friend Funeral Home. Bro. Gary King will officiate the service. The Celebration of Life Service will be livestreamed on Dwaine's memorial page of the funeral home's website.
