Dorsey Elmore, age 80, of Hustonville, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, May 18, 2021 in Danville, Kentucky. Born Wednesday, June 26, 1940 in Casey County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Dee and Eva Hamilton Elmore. His loving wife, whom he married Saturday, December 13, 1958 is Gloria Sue Smith Elmore. Dorsey was a farmer and a heavy equipment operator. He attended New Salem Baptist Church. Dorsey was the owner of Elmore’s Pay Lake, served as a Deacon at New Salem for 45 years. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, and he loved Kentucky Wildcats Basketball.
In addition to his wife, Dorsey leaves behind one son, Jeff Elmore (Debbi) of Hustonville; two daughters, Paula Turpin (Roger) and Janet Johnson (Jimmy) both of Hustonville; eight grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; one brother, Donnie Elmore (Sharon) of Casey County; and three sisters, Elizabeth “Biggin” McCammon of McKinney, Kentucky, Faye Hale of Perry Georgia, Barbara Briscoe (Larry) of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky.
In addition to his parents, Dorsey was preceded in death by two brothers, Vernon and Dallas Elmore.
A Public Funeral Service will begin at 2:00PM Friday, May 21, 2021 at New Salem Baptist Church. Bro. Greg Lockard will officiate the service. Burial will follow in New Salem Baptist Church Cemetery. Troy Turpin, Lee Sinkhorn, Ben Turpin, Daniel Sinkhorn, Matt Elmore and Bransen Turpin will serve as Active Pallbearers. New Salem Baptist Church Deacons: Kenneth Austin, Mike Bastin, Ronnie Graves and Phillip Austin, along with Dean Crutcher, Johnny Luster and Jackie Haggard will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
A Public Visitation will be held 6-9PM Thursday, May 20, 2021 at New Salem Baptist Church. A Second Visitation will be held 10AM-2PM Friday.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the New Salem Baptist Church Picnic Shelter Fund.
