Dewilla M. Engle Holtzclaw

Dewilla M. Engle Holtzclaw, age 88, of Waynesburg, Kentucky, was ushered into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at her home.  Born Friday, May 13, 1938, in the Highland Community of Lincoln County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Edgar & Mary E. Moore Long.  Dewilla taught at Highland Elementary for 20 years and substitute taught, after retirement until she was 75 years old.  Dewilla was an active member of Pleasant View Baptist Church, where she was involved in the WMU, and previously taught Sunday School, sang in the church choir, and went on many mission trips with the church.  Dewilla also enjoyed attending the Lincoln County Senior Citizens Center.  Dewilla will be remembered being a Godly woman who loved her Lord and family with all her heart.

Dewilla leaves behind her husband, Charles Wayne Holtzclaw of Waynesburg; two daughters, Kathy Hardwick (David) of Waynesburg, and Barbara Sipes (Louis) of Nicholasville, Kentucky;  special extended family members, Dale Holtzclaw (Dottie) Smith and Jennifer Sims (Randall); 10 grandchildren, Tiffany Kirkpatrick (Kevin), Gwen Bartlett (Preston), Adrienne Glass (Chris), Jonathan Hardwick (Faith), Mark Joseph Sipes, Chelsey Holtzclaw, Brandon Holtzclaw (Leah), Derrick Holtzclaw (Chantal), Emily Holtzclaw, and Matt Holtzclaw; 13 great-grandchildren, Jackson Kirkpatrick, AnnaGrace Kirkpatrick, Ella Kate Kirkpatrick, Kendall Glass, Khloie Glass, Kora Glass, Mina Hardwick, Braydon Retallack, Kalynn Retallack, Treyson Holtzclaw, Emmerson Holtzclaw, Haven Holtzclaw, and Hadley Holtzclaw; one brother, Kenneth Long (Debbie) of Highland; one sister, Drucilla Benedict of Kings Mountain, Kentucky; and numerous other extended family members and friends who mourn her passing.

In addition to her parents, Dewilla was preceded in death by her first husband, James Edgar Engle; one daughter, Janet Marie Engle; special extended family member, Wayne Holtzclaw; and two brothers, Randall Long and James Long.

Public Visitations will be held 5-8PM Monday, June 22, 2026, and 11AM-1PM Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at Pleasant View Baptist Church.

A Public Funeral Service will be held 1PM Tuesday, at the church.  Bro. Aaron Hogue & Bro. Scott Hughes will officiate the service. 

Burial will follow in Mt. Moriah Cemetery.  Cole Blakeman, Don Story, Dan Story, Wes Cornett, Josh Brown, and Shane Morgan will serve as Active Pallbearers.  Members of Dewilla’s Sunday School Class will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
