Debbie McGuffey Collins, age 69, in the Highland community of Lincoln County, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, May 8, 2025, at her home after a long, hard-fought battle. Born Thursday, November 24, 1955, in Stanford, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd B. “Pappy Lloyd” & Beatrice “Mama Bea” Sizemore McGuffey. Debbie was a 1973 graduate of Memorial High School and retired as a Farm Service Program Tech, where she served as a valuable resource to many farmers in Lincoln County for numerous years. Debbie was very proud of her sons, and her grandchildren were the loves of her life. Debbie always supported all her family members and was always there to share in the joy of their accomplishments. Debbie was a big University of Kentucky and Lincoln County Patriots fan and supporter. Debbie was a member of Highland United Methodist Church. She loved to feed her birds and make fried apple pies and chess pies. She will be remembered for her love of family and valuable impacts that she made on her community.
Debbie leaves behind two sons, Jon Collins (Cristal) of Waynesburg, Kentucky, and Phil Collins of Casper, Wyoming; two grandchildren, Morgan Collins (Kamron Palacios) of Morehead, Kentucky, and Jonah Collins of Waynesburg; the father of her sons, Irvin Collins of Waynesburg; one sister, Patty Young (Larry) of Waynesburg; two brothers, Joda McGuffey (Dolly) of Waynesburg, and Bowen McGuffey of Crab Orchard, Kentucky; and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members and friends who mourn her passing.
In addition to her parents, Debbie was preceded in death by one brother, Jim McGuffey.
Public Visitations will be held 5-8PM Monday, May 12, 2025, and 9-11AM Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at New Beginnings United Methodist Church.
The Public Funeral Service will be held at 11AM Tuesday, at the church. Bro. Danny Bertram will officiate the service.
The family would like to request that those attending the visitation or funeral service to dress comfortably and wear UK or Lincoln County Patriots attire.
Burial will follow in Highland United Methodist Church Cemetery. Jonah Collins, Joey McGuffey, Shawn McGuffey, Bo McGuffey, Tyler McGuffey, and Casey McGuffey will serve as Active Pallbearers. Paul Young, Andon Watt, Isaiah Vineyard, Jamar Wright, Bradley Cole, and Noah Martin will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
