Darlene Rogers Johnson

Darlene Rogers Johnson, age 80, of Kings Mountain, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at her daughter’s residence in Stanford, Kentucky.  Born Thursday, July 6, 1939 in Stanford, she was the daughter of the late Roy Lee & Elsie Kidd Rogers.  Darlene was the widow of the late Winfred B. Johnson, whom she married Saturday, March 30, 1957, and preceded her in death September 1, 2015.  Darlene attended Geneva Community Church and enjoyed cooking, playing the guitar, and praising the Lord throughout her life.

Darlene leaves behind two sons, Jeffrey Johnson (Carol Rector) of Stanford, and Kendall Johnson (Donna) of Waynesburg, Kentucky; two daughters, Bonnie Elmore (Ricky) of Stanford, and Beverly Calder (Paul Girky) of Kings Mountain; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Ruth Johnson of Eubank, Kentucky.

In addition to her husband and parents, Darlene was preceded in death by one grandchild; one great-grandchild; and two brothers, Roy Lee Rogers, Jr. (infant) and Darwin Paul Rogers. 

A Private Funeral Service will be held Friday, March 20, 2020 at Barnett, Demrow & Friend Funeral Home with Bro. Carson Atwood & Bro. Chris Taylor officiating the service.  Private Burial will follow at Gooch Cemetery on Greenbrier Road.  Aaron McNew, Dewayne Payton, Nathan Thompson, Skyler Thompson, Wade Rector, and Matthew Johnson will serve as Active Pallbearers.  Darlene’s granddaughters and great-grandchildren will serve as Honorary Pallbearers. 

The Private Funeral Service will be livestreamed, via Facebook, at 2:00PM Friday, March 20, 2020.

A Public Memorial Service will be announced and held at a later date.
