Danny K. Reed

Danny K. Reed, age 79, of McKinney, Kentucky, passed away peacefully Monday, December 15, 2025, at VA Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky.  Born Wednesday, April 17, 1946, in Danville, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Robert L. & Ruth (Compton) Reed.  His loving wife, whom he married Thursday, January 31, 1974, is Gladys (Rice) Reed of McKinney.  Danny was a U.S. Navy veteran and retired from Norfolk Southern Railway, where he was a conductor.  He and his wife also previously owned The McKinney Depot & The Kentucky Depot Restaurants, for over 30 years.  Danny was a member of South Fork Baptist Church.  Danny was a life-long farmer and an avid fan of UK Basketball. 

In addition to his wife, Danny leaves behind two sons, Joe Dan Reed (Christy) and John David Reed (Cristan) both of McKinney; four grandchildren, Hailee Reed of Bowling Green, Kentucky, Gracie Reed of Lexington, Kentucky, Lance Reed (Korie) of McKinney, and Chelsea Reed of McKinney; two brothers, Mike Reed (Linda) and Mark Reed (Sheila) both of Stanford, Kentucky; and several nieces, nephews and other extended family members and friends who mourn his passing. 

In addition to his parents, Danny was preceded in death by two brothers, Benny Reed and Bobby Reed; and three sisters, Evelyn Bair, Betty Graves, and Ann “Rooney” Rozen.

Public Visitations will be held 5-8PM Friday, December 19, 2025, and 11AM-1PM Saturday, December 20, 2025, at Fox & Friend Funeral Home.

A Public Funeral Service will be held 1PM Saturday, at the funeral home.  Bro. Vola Brown will officiate the service.  The Funeral Service will be livestreamed on Danny’s memorial page of the funeral home’s website.

Burial will follow in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.  Lance Reed, Norman Calfee, Sean Slusher, Marlin Clarkson, Chris Goff, and Scott Coffman will serve as Active Pallbearers.  Mike Short, Mark Coleman, Gary Best, Johnny Elliott, and Vincent Kohler will serve as Honorary Pallbearers. 

Memorial Contributions suggested to a charity of one’s choice.
