Christopher Caleb Whitis, 44, of Stanford, KY passed away on Thursday, December 30, 2021, at home. Born Sunday, July 31, 1977, in Danville, KY to Edward Othniel “Eddy” Whitis of Stanford, KY, and Diane Oliver Wylie of Madison, FL. Chris worked as a carpenter for most of his life; and was a member of Stanford Baptist Church. Chris enjoyed building things and music.
In addition to his parents, Chris leaves behind his wife, Melissa “Missy” D. Hodgens Whitis of Stanford, KY; his step-father, Robert Wylie of Madison, FL; one daughter, Latisha Johnson (Dwayne) of Danville, KY; one grandson, Dylan Johnson of Danville, KY; two brothers, Jason Whitis (Julia) of Berea, KY, and O’Niel Whitis of Stanford, KY; three sisters, Dana Whitis and Sierra Whitis both of Stanford, KY, and Jenny Wylie of Harrodsburg, KY; maternal grandmother, Lois Oliver of Stanford, KY; his paternal grandmother, Faye Price of Stanford, KY, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Bobby Wylie, Jr; maternal grandfather, Dr. Larry Oliver; and paternal grandfather, Ellis Whitis.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 7, 2022, at Stanford Baptist Church from 5-8pm; with a second Visitation being held on Saturday, January 8, 2022, from 11am-2pm, at the church.
Funeral Service will be 2pm Saturday, January 8, 2022, at the church with Brothers Vola Brown and Steve Webster officiating. The Funeral Service will be livestreamed on Stanford Baptist Church’s and Fox & Friend Funeral Home’s Facebook pages.
Burial will follow at Buffalo Springs Cemetery in Stanford. O’Niel Whitis, Ethan Whitis, Kendrew Scott, Robert Coulter, Randy Ledford, Wayne Gross, Buddy Bishop, and Willie Bishop will serve as Active Pallbearers. Jason Whitis, James Hodgens, Caleb Whitis, Dakota Whitis, Jay Whitis, Jace Whitis, Adam Singleton, Andrew Singleton, and Dustin Brockman will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
Memorial Contributions are suggested to set up a scholarship fund for Chris’ grandson, Dylan. Once the family gets the fund set up, at a local bank, the money will be deposited into an education savings account for Dylan.
