Chester Vernon Goode’s Life Story
Chester Vernon Goode was born Monday, January 11, 1954, in Stanford, Kentucky. He was the son of the late Annie C. Howard & Ben Lee Goode.
Chester acknowledged Christ as his Savior at an early age at Boneyville Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor Everhart Green.
Chester graduated from McKinney High School, in 1972, at the age of 18. Chester was known by many as “T-Bone”. He was an easy-going man and got along with most anyone. Some of his best friends, back in the day, were Margo, Connie, Mitchell Helm, Earl “Peanut”, Terry, Glenn, Anthony, just to name a few. Chester was a jokester and enjoyed cutting up with his friends.
Chester loved singing. One of his favorite songs was, “Trouble In My Way”. Sometimes, he would also sing with the Methodist church choir.
Chester worked at American Greetings, for over 20 years, where he was a forklift driver.
After leaving work at American Greetings, Chester left Kentucky, and made Fort Lauderdale, Florida his home until his homegoing.
Chester quietly slipped away from this life on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at his home.
Chester was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Russell, James, Willie; one sister, Iola Simpson, and special friend, Louise Goode.
Chester leaves to cherish his memories, one sister, Viola Wilkinson of Stanford, Kentucky; one brother, John O. Routt (Marie) of Stanford; one aunt, Irene “Aunt Tiny” Gooch (Ernest) of Stanford; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and special friends, Barthenia Brown of Stanford, Sara Givens of Stanford, and Andrea Baughman of Stanford.
Chester’s family would like to thank his special neighbors, Alene and Tashebra, for the special friendship they offered to Chester while he lived in Florida.
A Public Visitation will be held 10AM-11AM Thursday, June 20, 2024, at Boneyville Baptist Church.
The Memorial Service will be held 11AM Thursday, at the church. Rev. Christopher Simpson will officiate the service and Licentiate Cedric Stewart will serve as Master of Ceremony.
Burial will follow in Simpson Cemetery.
