Cherry Yvonne Sims

Cherry Yvonne Sims, of Kings Mountain, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, July 1, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones.  Born May 14th, in the Ellisburg community of Casey County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Adam & Erma Russell Crews.  Her loving husband, whom she married Sunday, March 14, 1976, is Dennis Sims.  Cherry previously owned and operated Family Footwear for over 25 years and worked at Palm Beach & Corning Glass.  Cherry was a member of Green River Pentecostal Church and enjoyed quilting in her spare time.

In addition to her husband, Cherry leaves behind one son, Jeff McWhorter (Jennie) of Kings Mountain; three grandchildren, Trent Vincent (Amy) of Lexington, Kentucky, Chase McWhorter (Kacie) of Kings Mountain, and Katelyn McWhorter of Kings Mountain; three great-grandchildren, Porter Yadon, Jay Wilson, and Cassidy McWhorter; and one sister, Carolyn Singleton of Moreland, Kentucky.

A Public Visitation will be held 5:30PM-8:00PM, Thursday, July 4, 2024, at Green River Pentecostal Church. 

A Public Funeral Service will be held 1:00PM, Friday, July 5, 2024, at the church.  Bro. Rick Naylor will officiate the service.  The Funeral Service will be livestreamed on the church’s Facebook page and Cherry’s memorial page of the funeral home’s website. 

Burial will follow in K.P. Hall Cemetery.  Trent Vincent, Chase McWhorter, Porter Yadon, Harley Ellison, Jimmy Singleton, and Jake Sims will serve as Active Pallbearers.
